I vote for Enya!!! So relaxing. I ended up putting a couple of my favorites on repeat softly in the background.

I really liked this lavender mint candle from Indigo Wild.

i agree about "stopping the scents." i love coffee, but when my husband brewed coffee late at night during labor for himself and the mw the smell made me want to barf- granted i think this was the beginning of transition.
also a word of caution... i had fantasies about a really serene hb experience with candles, music etc, but in reality birth is insanely hard work. toward the end of my pregnancy i read birthing from within and it really stresses approaching birth from the "getting down to business" viewpoint. so then i started equating my birth to my experiences climbing mountains and how painful and exhausting it can be but totally rewarding and how pushing myself pays off. so when i was in transition and the contractions were approaching unbearable, i did what i really didn't want to do and sat on the toilet where i knew the contractions would become insanely strong so it would bring me closer to the end. and it did. i had 2 contractions on the toilet and started pushing.
i think things like music and scents may help in early labor to relax and get some sleep for the hard work ahead though.
good luck!

Good point--but I'm noticing this thread about this mama's 6th baby, and 3rd homebirth.....
