My best friend was due March 7th. However on the February 8th, she woke up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom and her water broke.
At the hospital, they found that her DD was lying transverse, with her hand by her face. They scheduled a c-section since she wasn't progressing. During that, they took a swab of her uterus and found that she had the flu. She wasn't showing any symptoms, no fever or anything. But they said her uterus and placenta were infected with the flu, and that's what caused her water to break so early.
Does this sound right? Does this happen frequently, or just a freak occurance? Why does the flu kickstart labor? I've never heard of it before. Just curious, and am wanting to find some answers for my friend.
(BTW, little Jillian is doing fine. She had to stay in the NICU for a couple days on CPAP and under the billi lights, but is now home and growing!)
