Do you have a Lambs Wool Baby Rug?

Did you get one of these for your baby to sleep on?
I got one for a great price on Ebay and it's in very good condition but I'd like to clean it. Does anybody know how to care for these? Would I ruin it if I threw it in the washer?
Also wondering if you plan on puting baby directly on it or placing a blanket or sheet on top? DH is worried about the fluff in baby's face.

You mean like this

I washed it on warm in the washer on delicate with wool wash, kookbura, love the stuff. I dried in on low in the dryer. It is slow though. I do wash it frequently though because my cats and dog also love it. She couldn't have been more than a couple of weeks old in the pic, because it was before we moved. When she started to roll onto her side we did occasionally put a blanket under her also. We were in Hawaii, never had a problem with her being too hot, and really, it must have been nice because it was about the only time I ever got to lay her down.

I don't have the same one as Valerie, mine is very short wool. I wash in washer cold, with woollite, then hang to dry out of sunlight. Have never been brave enough to put in dryer.

I slept on it for a couple weeks before DD's arrival, so it would smell like me. I have never put anything between her and the lamby. I found it was great because she was a really sweaty sleeper for the first few months, and the wool would wick away sweat. The wool also acts as spacer (couldn't think of the word I was going for there) so that there is air flow. I also loved the fact that if there was diaper leakage, it never smelled of pee.

Valerie, what a sweet picture!

Thanks
We were lucky enough to find one at Costco. They do occaisonally carry them. They sell them at baby stores online too. Shop around though, sometimes they can be really expensive. Or it seems that they can be found on ebay also, but then again, what can't be?

Thanks for your replies. Yes, the one I got is similar to yours Wild Flowers
I got mine off Ebay so definitely check there first. You can also get them from www.nurturedfamily.com So glad to know I can wash it in the washing machine, I think I might get some euclan detergent first.

I wash and dry mine, then just comb it out - got it at IKEA for a great price before DD was born. She didn't sleep on it so much (sling napper ), but loved belly time there.
