Green Tea and Folic Acid

Is it true that green tea inhibits folic acid absorption? I've been avoiding it but I'm so sick of milk and water (I'm a milk addict!). I don't care for juices at all and I almost never drink soda. I just want some variety! I LOVE iced green tea and I made myself a gallon last night and it is sooooo good. Anyone know how much would be too much to drink if the folic acid thing is true? Is it only important in the 1st trimester? I have to really force myself to get enough liquid intake daily and the iced green tea really helps me get and stay hydrated (it's caffeine free btw).

the research is relatively new and is dual- green tea does have folic acid in it and it seems that there are things in green tea that block absorbtion -- long term dietary studies on Japanese women do show that there is some need to supplement folic acid -even though at the time the amount of green tea and other things in the diet seemed to have plenty of folic acid

Rooibus tea is a good alternative to green/black tea. It's not actually tea (camelia..) but tastes much like it and doesn't interfere with either folic acid or iron absorption like the green/black can.
