Does this look comfy for waterbirth?

I was naked last time, but I want to at least have the option of wearing a top for this birth. I'm planning a waterbirth. Does this look comfortable? It's a nursing, not maternity suit, so I'd have to raise the lower part above my tummy. I'd order size XL to ensure roominess.

That would be too much fabric for me personally and having it bunched up under your breasts doesn't sound very comfy.
I was also naked the last two times but this time we are having a professional photographer friend come and take pictures of the labor and birth so I am planning on wearing this http://www.bluecanoe.com/e-store/pro...=3111818357898 at least for a little while. I already have it and it is really comfy!

It doesn't look comfy to me either. I just wore a black cotton sleep bra in the pool.

It doesn't look comfy to me. I had a sportsbra if I wanted it. Ended up naked.

I would think it wouldn't be comfortable, either. If I were to wear anything it would probably be a sports bra, but I ended up naked too.

I wore a comfy sports bra for my last 2 homebirths, which I am planning on doing again That doesn't look very comfy to me.

The "comfort" would not be so much an issue for me as the cost. For my homebirth, I purchased a cotton maternity tank top that had a shelf bra in it for about $10 at J.C. Penneys. It worked just fine!

I like the idea of a sports bra or cotton pull on bra better. They sell really nice ones at www.bluecanoe.com . That looks like it would get thrown to the side very quickly!

I wore a sports bra that zipped up the front. I knew I would not want my boobs flopping all around (not for modesty, just because they get bigger than my head) and it worked really well. I just unzipped it once she was out so she could latch on.

I agree, that really doesn't look like it would be comfortable to me. I'm planning on wearing a sports bra and have a cami that I got from oldnavy for $1.

I wore a sports bra, I considered a bathing suit but knew that the temp issues I generally have with bathing suits would drive me NUTS.

nope, doesn't look comfy to me either.

It looks too restircting to me.

doesn't look comfortable to me at all.

Looks terrific for afterwards! I need a good nursing bathing suit for summer.

i just wore an old bikini top. i agree with the others that that tankini would be too much fabric for me- the closer to naked the better, if you aren't going to be naked that is.

hey thank sfor sharing that i was thinking about what i could wear this summer at the beach!

i thought about a bra from decentexposures.com if dh wanted to video tape, but everything went so fast we never even got any pictures.

I wore a maternity swimming suit top - so it was fitted through the breasts, but billowy and loose below that. I felt totally covered in the water, and even when I got out, it provided a bit of crotch coverage. Everyone says you won't worry about modesty during labor, but if you worry about it the rest of the time, you'll probably worry about it in labor! I certainly did.

I disagree here... I am quite modest, but I was naked very early in my labor. But even now I make sure I don't flash any boob when I nurse around people who were at the birth! I was a totally different animal during labor.

To answer the OP: I wouldn't bother with it. That's a lot to spend on something you probably won't want to wear anyway. Get a comfy nursing bra (I agree with the Blue Canoe suggestion) so if you end up naked you will use it anyway after the birth.

I bought a 75 cent (clearanced) bikini top and wore that for DD2's delivery. When DD2 was born I was able to just untie the strap and let her nurse. After we transitioned to bed, I put on a nursing bra.

I liked having the coverage because like a PP, I was wanting photographs taken that I would feel comfortable sharing with more than just my husband. (I'm fairly modest outside of labor.)
