Do your toddlers have fun with their play silks?

I'm thinking about getting my daughter (14.5 months) some play silks. I know they are something that she'll be more interested in as she gets older and starts getting involved in pretend play. What age did your toddlers start playing with their silks? Do they use them regularly? Or are there some toddlers out there who just didn't care for them much?

eta: Also, is it worth it to spend a little extra on one extra large silk? Thanks!

love our silks

My now 18-month-old DS uses his play silks a few times a week. It goes in phases. We have these gorgeous silks that a WAHM friend has tie-dyed in brilliant colors. We play with them during music at home time. DS asks to have his babydoll or monkey or other favorite stuffed animal tied in a "sling" with the play silk. One is a door to his play tent at the moment. And they are absolute favorites for peak-a-boo. Ours are not particularly large, but we love them. I know they will just expand in their uses as dress-up tools later, but for now they are mostly used for fun movement during dances around the living room.

I don't know the rules about posting info from vendors, so if you are interested in supporting a WAHM who sells beautiful silks, you can pm me and I'll send you a link to her website.

My kids ALL love their playsilks. the babies have been playing with them since they were about a year of age. My oldest plays with the playsilks too - and he's 11. Big hit, major hit - worth having mroe than one - bigger is good.

We LOVE playsilks!!!

They are doll blankets/slings, dress up capes, skirts, aprons for my almost 3 year old. My 10 month old loves to hold them and play peek-a-boo.

They are fun to dye yourself with Kool-aid too!

My son is almost 6 and he still loves his playsilks and silk scarves. They come in so handy for so many things, especially for superhero capes.

My daughter is only 10 months but she loves her "play silks." I've been collecting vibrant old silk scarves from thriftco & goodwill since before she was born & now she has a rainbow of the regular size & some extra large ones too.

No. I really wish he was, but he's just so not into them. They hold no interest at all from him. Having said that, every other person I know who has them raves about how their kids love them, so I think we are in the minority.

My daughter is 2. She never really had much interest in hers. sometimes she'll play with them... but mainly she doesn't play with toys, except rides her bike around the house, and plays with puzzles and books....and her baby. she'll use them for her baby sometimes....she's not really into dressing up yet... so maybe once she is, she'll like them more.

DS Loves to play with playsilks *with* me but hasn't found any independent reasons to play with them yet...he's 15 months now...

I totally understand that! DD won't play with anything independently yet. I'm counting on using the silks interactively with her for quite some time. I guess we should be flattered ... nothin's as fun as mama to play with!

I am just afraid to spend more money on yet another toy she won't use or show interest in. Nothing seems to interest her toy-wise (unless you count our dog).

I just wanted to add that not only do my babies (almost 18mo) play w/the silks, Gedalya has appropriated one little one to be his lovey.
