WHo else.

I know renee is (JamesMomma).

Who else is still nurseing?

Who else plan to nurse the whole time

who else plans to TN?

(granted God changes plans all the time).

I will not wean T unless a medical necssity with the pregancy -- if i have as much trouble gaining weight again, or we have another messed up placenta.

If T walks on him own -- i will not fight him. Have not decided abotu allowing re-nurseing after the babyin this case.

Who else is with me.

I was planning on it, but DD weaned a week after her 2nd birthday, about a month ago If she wants to nurse again when the new baby comes, tht will probably be fine- But I kinda doubt she will after so much time, beyond an experimental time or two.

I am still nursing my 14 month old. I weaned my 2 year old about a month ago at 27 months- she still wants to nurse, but it was starting to really wear on me and I wasn't up to tandem nursing WHILE pregnant. My nips are just now getting SLIGHTLY sore, but nothing major.
I plan on nursing throughout this pgcy and tandem nursing again.

I'll be nursing until James decides to wean, unless I have issues with this pregnancy.

I hope I'm like my best friend and loose 20lbs before 20 weeks. LOL. She's still nursing her 10 month old, found out she was pg at 6 weeks (no period) and since then has lost a lot of weight, mama and baby are fine...she still had pregnancy weight to loose and was about 15-20lbs overweight probably so it's for the best for her...I'm probably 10lbs overweight now and hope I loose some of it!

James is 2 years old, and is very attached to his 'boobie' so I don't think I'd be able to wean him if I wanted it. I am working on nightweaning him though, just for my sake so I get more sleep...I need my sleep while pregnant. I won't bedtime wean him or daytime wean him though, just nightweaning.

I'm still nursing DS (16 months) He nurses frequently but not for long periods of time and still 1-3 times at night. I'd love to night wean, but I'm not really sure how to do it. For now, I'm comfortable nursing him as long as he needs it unless something comes up health-wise for me.

I'm nursing Ellery, who will be two next week. I plan to just see how things go. Right now, things are a bit sore, but I'm okay with nursing for as long as she wants. She sleeps all night though, so I don't have night nursing to contend with. That would be tough!

I was also nursing my first (she was 20 months) when I became pregnant with my second. She continued to nurse until 23 months, but my milk was basically gone. Pregnancy can dry up your milk supply, especially if you're nursing an older toddler who's only nursing 3-4 times a day, like mine.

I'm still not sure how I feel about tandem nursing.

I've been nursing various combinations of children for 5.5 years straight, so I don't mind that my one year old is starting to wean (she loves soymilk!) I think I will enjoy a well deserved break before the next one starts! :-)
Wow...that was actually easier than I thought! He gave up the bedtime nursing with very little protest. I just say "Night-Night James" and he flops up beside me and is asleep within just a few minutes! It's amazing. If he wakes up in the middle of the night I says "Shhhh, lets go to sleep." he might fuss for a little bit but usually he pretty much falls right back asleep! He only nurses 'overnight' at around 5:00am or so. I can deal with that.

Now if I could only shut my brain off so I can sleep! LOL

I'll be tandem nursing through this pregnancy. I nursed DS through my 2nd pregnancy with DD and have been tandem nursing for almost 16mo now. Unless the TN has some big effects on this pregnancy, I'll probably just continue on TN. I had a rough 12wks the first time I nursed through being pg, don't know if the same will happen. I do plan on night weaning 16mo DD before this baby is born, but I'm not on any kind of schedule for it to happen (during my last pregnancy, DS night weaned 1 week before I delivered: )

Yup still nursing my 22MO DS. . .I think I want to nightwean before the baby comes, but we'll see. I nursed DS1 through about five months of my second pregnancy and then he weaned, so we'll see what happens this time!

My DD is 18 months and still nurses about 3-4x a day. I plan to continue as long as she wants.

When I was pg with DD, DS was still nursing a lot day and night. My nips really hurt and it drove me crazy to nurse him, but we pushed through. He nursed until she was born and then stopped.

My nips don't hurt at all this time. I wonder if it's because I've been nursing since Nov. 03 non-stop? They're tough now, methinks.

Sounds like a lot of mama's milk dried up. I really don't want this to happen since DS is so young. Anything I can take to boost milk supply safely during pregnancy?
My 3 year old just weaned a bit over a month ago. But his lil brother has been weaned since last summer, he wasn't a milk lovin boy

All through his pregnancy though, Connor still nursed. I think the drying up depends on how much they nurse, when he was stilll nursing more it really didn't seem to effect him. But when he backed off, it dropped fast. He loved it at the end when it really upped though.

I really hadn't planned on tandeming, but it really helped his adjustment to a baby. He wasn't nearly as upset as expected, since he still got that. Even when he nearly stopped, he still had just me and him time at bedtime and nursed, that was our special just us time.

There's not a whole heck of a lot you can do. It all has to do w/ hormones, mama. The hormones that help w/ milk production drop so low while pg b/c they can actually induce labor if they were high enough and the hormones that are produced while pg actually cause lower milk production. Not everyone's milk dwindles, but I'd say it's safe to say that most supplies lower. Sorry.

how much was she nureing at 15 months -- we are at like 12+ a day AT LEAST -- i do not NOT not think he has cut down any since birth.....he has DAYS, one here or there, when he does less, but not as a rule...

amylizpat - it is true that is is luck of the draw and hormones -- however there are things to help (but will not prevent it) think of them as optimizing what you have -- I have been trolling for suggestions the whole 6 months we were TTC:

WATER -- more and more and more water, the first thing you loose is milk....and remember iwth amnio and all that the new baby is taking a lot of water too

NURSE A LOT -- more and more -- there is big part in AITN about this -- when your tot (or baby) slows down the nurseing -- at any time, pg or not -- the milk tree in your boobs starts to pare itself down, and thus make less and less milk -- a natural weaning process. the milk will also change and become more salty -- again the natural weaning process -- a dance between your booba nd the baby / tot.

wellllllllllll if you are Preggo and the baby / tot nurese less then your body jump into wean mode a lot lot faster than if you are not preggo -- changing the milk faster and cutting it back faster.

aslo -- if you are not pg and the baby is younger enough, and starts to up demand again, your tree can regrow -- but if you are preggo (or the child is much older) the tree doesn't rebound (till the new baby).

so keep up the nurseing.

from my notes:

Quote:
•Inositol and Choline. Inositol is a B vitamin (It may or may not be unofficially "numbered" B8).

•nettle tea

•"More Milk Two" (available at “Motherlove.com”), is specifically intended for pregnancy and contains: Red Raspberry Leaf (RRL), Nettle, and Alfalfa.

•Oatmeal

•Red raspberry leaf tea

•Alfafa

•A calcium/magnesium/zinc supplement per day

Flax oil supplement daily

•Oatstraw Tea

I should also emphasize here that some of the research I did warns against Inositol in pregnancy for the same reason Red Raspberry Leaf is warned against, due to the Oxytocin / Contraction connection. However, that is the same reason even well-informed Ob-Gyns warn against nursing through pregnancy.

The Kellymom site explains that there are not as many uterine receptors for Oxytocin early in pregnancy and that Oxytocin should not induce labor unless one is at full term or otherwise in jeopardy for early or short delivery

also thigns to avoid

Galactogogues that are contraindicated for pregnancy:

goat's rue
sage
blessed thistle
fungreek

So -- I agree -- if it is going -- it is going, and MOST do report a dip at least....but many moms nurse allt eh way though and are fine.

It can't hurt to do all you can....

I am also finding Adventures in Tandam Nurseing to be very informatioal -- I get tired of all the mom's stories (all LLL books are that way) buttttt the science of milk production, and how it works with and is effect by pregancy -- is great.

Dante nurses once every few days, but I haven't had milk in awhile. I predict he'll self-wean before the baby is born, but I'm fine with tandeming if that ends up happening.

Dante is 3 years old, btw. He'll be 4 when baby is born.

Aimee--I think at 15 months she was nursing maybe 6x a day.
