transitioning from little potty to big potty

DS (25 mo.) loves his little potty but sadly is getting too big for it. His knees are up so high and yesterday he peed right out of the potty! Anyway, he's not at all comfortable on the potty alone but does like sitting on the cushy insert we have. My concern is:
1. the position that put him in doesn't seem at all healthy for elimination. the little potties encourage the squatting position, while the insert leaves his little legs almost straight out

2. what inserts are easy for use out and about

I had DS on a big potty starting around 7 or 8 months. I'd just hold him or give him the needed support. He's been using the big potty on a regular basis since around 12 -15 months. I hated cleaning out his BBLP. We tried using an insert but he seemed to do fine on the regular seat. He just spreads his legs out far and does his thing. The first time he climbed up on the big potty all by himself was so darned cute. Hope that helps some. Give different things a try and see what they like adn what works.
