Recommended Reading List?

Thread Starter
I have a 2 1/2 year old daughter. She loves books and we are constantly reading. Does anyone have any favorite books they like to read to their little ones? We go to the library every week and check out books but I would like to purchase a few for when the new baby comes.
Right now her favs are
*Zen Shorts by Jon J Muth
*Her "Sing Along Books" I picked up from Costco. They come with a audio cd but she just wants me to read them-or shall I say sing them.
*Hickory Dickory Dock by Sanja Rescek (A cute collection of nursery rythmes)
*Shel Silverstein's A light in the Attic
Anybody have puzzles their little one loves? She has about 8 and we have them in rotation but I can sense she is getting bored.

Both of my big kids LOVED the Sandra Boynton books when they were toddlers.

"Moo, Baa, La la la" was a favorite.

I'm already in the process of buying the collection for our impending baby...as my big kids, now 10 and 14, have long since given theirs away.

Lots of great books mentioned already!

The Tiny Mouse books by Cindy Szekeres if you can find them. Both of my boys loved them!

Rosemary Wells did some books about rabbits and they were all so fun! Voyages to the Bunny Planet, and the Max and Ruby books.

Both of my boys liked the Richard Scarry books where you look for things...later they liked Where's Waldo and the I Spy books.

Grandfather Twilight is really nice.

Ds2 is obsessed with the "Good Dog, Carl" books by Alexandra Day. Her illustrations are just gorgeous. The books tend to only have about 2 sentences; on the rest of the pages you use the illustrations to tell the story. I like these because the illustrations have so many little details and you can tell the story with new details every time. Your dd would probably like "reading" these to you as well!

Satoshi Kitamura's Dog is Thirsty, Duck is Dirty, Squirrel is Hungry and Cat is Sleepy. I these, and happily all of my dc have too! They crack me up

Rosemary Wells also writes the McDuff series, about a little dog. Both my girls love those ones, especally McDuff and the Baby.

I also love The Puppy Who Wanted a Boy.

See a theme here?

A few others just off the top of my head:

Are You my Mother?
Curious George
Goodnight, Gorilla
Green Eggs and Ham
Go, Dog, Go
