really scared..

I need some help ladies... I had really struggled to have a homebirth. I finally get the nerve to do it, sign the contract and get excited. I have remained in the care of my hospital CNM's as well. JIC I had a reason to have a hospital birth. I didn't want to be stuck with a random OB... So here is what happened at my CNM appt yesterday... This is my email to my HB MW..

I had my appt with my CNM yesterday. It did not go well. I had some really severe swelling in my feet and calves the other night and just thought I had over done it. The swelling subsided, but my feet keep getting that way, like to the point I can't move them. Back to the visit, So I went into the office and they weighed me and got a urine specimen. They said I gained 9 LBS in two weeks and I was totally shocked this is not normal for me... My urine tested positive for protein (I think 30 which was one up from trace, but on it's way up to the next block). So they take my blood pressure. It was high but not crazy high (they didn't tell me what it was). So my medwife comes in and tell me I failed the glucose test. I got a 148 (18 over the 130). She then notices the protein in my urine and starts to ask me questions. Asks me about headaches (which I have been having), Blurry or spotty vision (which I have occasionally had in the last week, thought it was just from getting up too quickly). Then tests my reflexes. I almost kicked her in the face. Which I know is not normal for me. At this point I was so upset because I know right where this is headed. She says the big Pre Eclampsia words and tells me I need to be tested for a ton of things. So now I have to go tomorrow and do the 3 hour blood draw and have a ton of panels done. She wants to see me back in a week rather than 2.

Hugs, mama. How's your diet? That's the first thing that comes to mind that might help your situation. If it's already good, then I'm not sure what to say.

The Brewer Diet is supposed to be good at preventing/treating Pre-E. The website is blueribbonbaby.org I couldn't get it to work though, so maybe try this: http://nutrition.birthingnaturally.n...iles/frame.htm for more info in the meantime. GL, mama!

That site also has LOTS of empowering information so you have a better idea of how to handle many issues yourself.

Remain undaunted NaturalMindedMama! It's all within your power to create the birth you desire!

I was going to give some info on things you can do, but seems I was beaten to the punch. Do not give up! I would really look into the diet and start actually tallying the amount of protein you are getting. It is very, very easy in pregnancy not to get an adequate amount.

Honey- I am 32 weeks...

Thanks ladies! So here is an update.. had my third bout of PTL yesterday. The first two were due to bacterial vaginosis. The contractions were easy and light. This time I was having WAVES... I needed support from my mom to rub my back. I went to the local hospital. Turns out baby is SUPER low. So basically the more I walk around the more PTL I am going to have. My CNM said as soon as I start dialating she is going to be right there in my vagina and pretty much that walking around and working may become out of the question soon. I was truly hoping to work until 39 weeks (April 13) but that very well may not happen. When doing an internal They could feel her head right at my cervix, which thank god remains closed and long...

Now to the pre E, they ran all my bloodwork and it was all normal. I am not spilling protein and I no longer had high BP. AWESOME!

Joyce (HB MW) suggested alot more protein (which I was already getting about 100 g per day) she suggested around 140.

THANKS TO YOU ALL FOR THE WONDERFUL IDEAS AND HUGS!!!
