a cup of coffee and some intactivism

Thread Starter
So this morning I read a post on another board by a pregnant mom asking about circ care. She specifically said she didn't want to start a debate about circ and that she was looking for info from circing moms only, fine. The thread was ripe with the usual crap, "He didn't cry at all", "It healed so fast" etc. I decided to repect her wishes for the thread and sent her a pm instead I calmly wrote her telling about how I was also planning on circing my son at one point. Fortunately, I came across some info that changed my mind and changed me as a parent forever. I shared all my favorite links with her and wished her luck "with whatever she decides to do". It gave me the warm fuzzies to hit send and I hope it planted a seed.

I'm glad you took the stand I think I know where your referring too because so many ppl hear easy simple answers to make circumcision not look bad and they don't exactly know what is still involved!

Those mom's only have to believe it healed fast - right now I'm starting to hear alot of talk on adhesions and buried penises- (how fun) and they only 'believe their son 'didn't cry and 'assume' he's sleeping when he's knocked in the stage 5 sleep state!

I hope one of these days all circ'ed men will start screaming at doctors who did not give 'true informed consent" to the parents.

Good for you - here's hoping you planted a seed.

It's funny how people who are going to circ don't want to know the facts to complicate their decision. : I'm going to cut my son, so nyah-nyah-nyah [fingers in my ears] to anyone who wants to tell me anything factual about the foreskin, its purposes, etc...(sigh)

I don't mind at all people trying to tell me 'reasons' to circ - they are all so pathetically easy to counter, and I have no guilt/second thoughts AT ALL about my decision NOT to make such an important decision for another person (my son).

You wonder why they can't see that their fear of information/facts is a give away to the wrongness/irrationality of what they are doing to their child.

Good for you getting the info out there. It is hard for me to hear people who believe circ is good, because I know a baby's health and safety and rights are at stake, or possibly already lost :
