Cafepress.com t-shirt

I was looking for onsies for Ivan to wear this Spring and Summer with all the cute shorts I bought him at the after-season sale and I thought about getting some with AP slogans from cafepress.com. I found a bunch of cute ones and then I noticed that they have a lot of creepy ones as well. Like this one:

Should we boycott cafepress.com for selling such garbage? Who in the heck would put that onsie on their baby? Is there anywhere else that has a great selection of AP onsies?

That's disgusting.

However, my understanding is that cafepress is a clearinghouse for people to post their designs; I don't think they police them. And, much as I truly, truly detest that onesie, I don't think cafepress should censor. Freedom of speech sucks like that sometimes.

I would happily boycott the designer of that onesie though, and any others like it. Boost the popularity on the AP designs so they pop up first in a search!

Good idea. I do not like censorship either, I was just hoping there was a place to buy the items I wanted that was totally AP. So my dollars could go to them. Is there a way to find the designer of that onsesie?

Here are a few good AP apparel sites (including some cafepress):

Little Earth Angels
August Afternoon
Cookie Pants
The AP Shop

HMMM.. If you look at the rest of their store, it seems pretty anti circ. Perhaps that shirt was supposed to be a joke, as in nobody would be that happy about being recently circed ??

There are more disturbing onesies than that.

This one was linked to on a news site... Be aware, it's very disturbing!

Un-freakin-believable!!!!! : : : : :

That is just horrible. Anyone that puts that onesie or the one I mentioned on their child does NOT DESERVE CHILDREN!!!!! They are too stupid to raise a child!!!

I am going to find another site for my shopping. I just cannot let my hard-earned dollars go to cafepress.com anymore. Edit....I did after learning more about how the site works: :

The owner of the store uploads designs and logos to sell. Then, they choose which items (adult Ts, baby onesies, bumper stickers, etc.) that they want to offer. All logos are generally available on all items, unless you specifically re-work your store to narrow it down, which is time consuming.

So, say you make two logos:
"I *heart* @n@l s*x" that you made for adults
"Fresh out of the hole" that you designed for newborns
well...each one would be available on adult or baby sized items. It's up to the buyer to not buy a sick shirt like "I *heart* @n@l s*x" in a 3-6mo onesie.

...just sayin'...

OK, so let me see if I understand. Cafepress.com is just a site for all these different companies? So if I buy my breastfeeding and anti-CIO onsies, the people who put up the offensive onesies have nothing to do with who I buy from? They are all separate?

If so, how do I make sure that my onsies do not come from the yucky sellers?

Sorry to be so lame, I just am a bit confused about this site.:

Cafepress hosts the site and makes the gear that individual designers create. So you can sit at your laptop in the living room, come up with a good one-liner about, say, a political candidate, turn it into a logo using a basic graphics program, and upload it to cafepress and specify how you want it marketed (black t-shirt, onesies, buttons, etc.). It's more like EBay than an actual store itself.

I saw HellBentBaby has several circumcision-related designs...

Uncircumcised. Unashamed.

I'm not one to brag but my circumcision was top notch.

Circumcision. The origional manscaping.

And, of course the one from the OP:

Recently circumcised.

Tastless, but, free speech.

Cafepress also hosts tons of intactivist designs.

I may or may not have this exactly right, but basically, cafepress.com is some giant warehouse with loads of "blanks" (shirts in all sizes and colors, stickers galore, bags, boxers, journals, etc., etc.) They have tons of machines that print pictures on these various blanks. They don't have logos, images, or anything of their own.

Random people, like you or me, go to cafepress.com with a picture or logo we've made, upload it and BAM! it's instantly available for other people to buy. So, then Consumer Jane goes to the site, chooses a tank top that says, "Milk Shake" on it, clicks 'Buy Now' and the good peons at cafepress.com make the shirt and send it on its way. Good, bad, ugly, AP or abusive, they just make what Jane wants.

(example above just came in the mail for me. -My grandfather always says that Jett wants his vanilla milkshake, so I got the tank top to wear at his house. )

If you look on the left side of the page, you'll see where you can view the person's 'store' and you can peruse their other offerings to judge if their views are enough in line with yours to support them.

My question is: How much, if anything, does the store owner make off the sale?

Past_VNE that really was some good info you had. I can now the company that makes each onesies that I want for Ivan. I had that idea to go directly to their sites and buy each onsie there, but alas they are all coming from cafepress.com anyway even if I do order direct Makes me feel better knowing that the yucky companies are not "double-dipping" by making the creepy logos as well as the AP ones.

Just needed to know the method of operation of the site and where to look for info. I feel better now.

Still pi$$ed that there is a market for some of those onesies that incorporate sex with children and make light of circ. : Some people are so freakin' insensitive and plain old stupid :

When I opened my cafepress store, I had to click "yes, I want to sell this item, yes I want to sell this item" and so forth. I didn't have to go through any time-consuming process of re-working my store to narrow it down.

In answer to general questions about how cafepress works:

As someone else said, people like you and me go to cafepress and open a store. We supply the text/graphics, cafepress supplies the blanks and does the printing.

Cafepress charges a base price for the blanks and printing (and it's a LOT -- they make a HUGE profit). Then, the person who is submitting the text/graphics sets the final price of the item. You can set the final price to whatever you want. If you want to make a dollar profit, you set the price at a dollar above cafepress's base price. If you want to make a five dollar profit, you set the price at five dollars above the base price (you're not going to sell as many items though, obviously). So, when someone buys an item at cafepress, cafepress gets most of the money, and then the person who submitted the text/graphics gets whatever little profit they set for themselves (it can't be too much or it would make the item prohibitively expensive).

I kind of like that one. Hell, I'd wear it!

The anal sex one is just bizarre and sick for little minors and babies to wear. I pride myself on being an extremely liberal individual, but there's a difference here. It's just sick. Might be against the UA here, but that's how I feel. I wouldn't want my minor child to wear such a shirt should he/she choose it and I wouldn't choose to put it on my baby.

I got lots of my stuff shirts etc from www.naturalattachments.com they do custom work. They mostly have bfing stuff but they were very willing to make me anti circ things as well when I asked.
