Come on Spring!
I can feel the quickening....

It has been above 20 degrees a lot this week in Western NY. We still have a ton of snow and it has not been warm enough to melt anything, but I am hopeful for an early spring.

I am getting the urge to fix things around the house, get rid of things, sweep out...anyone else?

Enjoy the sunshine if you have some in your area!

Here is the March Calendar from the School of the Seasons.

A poem for you all to celebrate the new month and the almost full moon:

Ego Tripping

Nikki Giovanni (1973)

I was born in the Congo.
I walked to the Fertile Crescent and built the sphinx.
I designed a pyramid so tough that a star
that only glows every one hundred years falls
into the center giving divine perfect light.

I am bad.

I sat on the throne
drinking nectar with Allah.
I got hot and sent an ice age to Europe
to cool my thirst.
My oldest daughter is Nefertiti.
The tears from my birth pains
created the Nile.

I am a beautiful woman.

I gazed on the forest and burned
out the Sahara desert.
With a packet of goat's meat
and a change of clothes,
I crossed it in two hours.
I am a gazelle so swift,
so swift you can't catch me.

For a birthday present when he was three,
I gave my son Hannibal an elephant.
He gave me Rome for mother's day.

My strength flows ever on.

My son Noah built an ark and
I stood proudly at the helm
as we sailed on a soft summer day.
I turned myself into myself and was Jesus.

Men intone my loving name.
All praises all praises,
I am the one who would save.

I sowed diamonds in my back yard.
My bowels deliver uranium.
The filings from my fingernails are
semi-precious jewels.

On a trip north,
I caught a cold and blew
my nose giving oil to the Arab world.
I am so hip even my errors are correct.
I sailed west to reach east and had to round off
the earth as I went.
The hair from my head thinned and gold was laid
across three continents.

I am so perfect so divine so ethereal so surreal.
I cannot be comprehended except by my permission.
I mean...I...can fly
like a bird in the sky...

Happy March everyone. We're starting out with the Lion aspect here I think. We're in a tornado watch from 8:40 am until 6 pm today, and it's suddenly in the 40's (with snow piles still on the street corners). Weather spotter training isn't until next week, so we'll see if we all remember last years training or not!

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Happy March to everyone! I am looking forward to spring so much. Spring and fall are my fave seasons. We've had some wacky weather here lately. I guess She's really waking up because the wind and rain blew big time around here the other day right before some snow came down. Not usual for us this time of year.

We are having snow/sleet/rain mix. Lovely. Last week was school vacation and this week ds hasn't gone to school either. Not looking forward to Monday...They're going to be on my case about ds missing so much school.
Too bad. It's only preschool. And a bad one, at that.
On a more positive note, I'm feeling more magical/magickal lately. I think that sending healings out for people is awakening me again.

I have an online friend that I've known for 7 or 8 years and he had a work related accident. He fell 27 feet off of a roof. He broke his neck; has spinal injuries; chest injuries; a punctured/collapsed lung; brain swelling; etc. Sadly, it does not look good. They can't get oxygen into him fast enough. They supposedly can't fix the lung because if they would need to take him off the ventilator to do it but if they did that, he would die. I really wish he was in a good hospital in the states instead of being in a small hospital in England. His poor wife is terrified and she keeps trying to talk to him in the hopes she can give him reason to fight to live. It's heartbreaking. This is a really nice guy (and coming from me, that's huge.) His name is Karl and his wife is Dot. Please send him healing energy, if you can!

hi, mamas - i've been lurking for a while, thought since you started a new thread maybe i'd finally post DH and I have always been somewhat lazy pagans or maybe we're just lazy in general... but now that DD is getting to the age where she can enjoy some rituals, we're trying to light a fire under ourselves to do more. DH is more of a druid, i'm kind of all over the place - to include some Hindu and Buddhist leanings, picking what i like from a myriad of sources.

re: spring - it sure is feeling like it suddenly around here. the nearly foot of snow we had here last week is totally melted away now, and it's been raining for 2 days. the air has a warmness to it, and i've even heard a couple of brave birds chirping. but early March is alway a tease here - more in like a lamb and out like a lion. just when you think it's spring for good, we get hit with one more cold snap or major snow, just to shake things up a bit before the change is for good.

Salvia - cool poem. thanks for sharing!

Ode- sending light and positive energy to your friend and his wife!

In one of my brief moments of energy, I pulled out my circle round and started to think about planning my altar. My MIL just bought me the sweetest resin bunnies, that I will put on my altar. There are a few things I would like to do but time will tell if I am up to that.

Hey, all! It's been awhile. I just joined an awesome group here in town and I am helping plan our full moon/eclipse esbat this Saturday. This is my first planning and circle where I actually do something! I am very nervous.

Is anyone else doing anything for the Storm Moon?

@ preschool... ours used to do the same thing but I told them oh well, I'm paying for it so deal RE: your friend.. that excuse for no surgery sounds a bit.. off to me.. as a former nurse. People are kept alive during surgeries with ventilators all the time .. there would have to be a way for it to be done! Sending problem solving vibes to his doctors so they can work it out and get your friend on the mend

Hiya! Not doing anything super exciting for the moon here really... unless you count sitting out on the patio till 1am playing uno with my sil under the almost full moon

Cari- I don't really know the details about it. Only that his puncture goes right through his lung. I lived in England for a few years and saw many doctors. In my opinion, they were mostly clueless. I always prayed that nothing major would happen to me.
My friends daughter (22 yrs old) had an asthma attack. They were going to intubate her but couldn't get the size right. She died.
I went into two different hospitals there (visiting people) and the equipment was visably dirty. I was in shock.
I really wish that Karl was in a good hospital in the USA, to be honest. I'm sure they could save his life.

My daffies are coming up! Ahhh, the look so delicate compared to all the disgusting black snow.

Ode- I didn't realize that hospitals in England were so bad. I imagine he isn't stable enough to come to the us, huh? sending more light his way.
