I loved that article! It is what created my idea. We have a walk in closet in our bedroom that is a fairly good size. About 10x5. What I want to do is paint each wall a different color. I am just waiting till we pick some colors, and then I really want to work on it. I thought jewel tones would be really neat. Deep golden yellow on one wall, deep ruby blue on another, a pinky ruby color and maybe a deep emerald green. Really bright intense colors just for something exciting. Our whole house is basic antique white, so the splash of color in the closet would be fun!

Not specifically, but I decided I'm going to do yellow. Something that gives me a summery beachy feel I think.

I like that it's the largest room of our house

WHAT I LIKE LEAST ABOUT MY MASTER BEDROOM
I don't care for the carpet - it's the only room in our home with carpet - we hope to put down some wood soon

HOT SPOTS (spots in your room that tend to collect clutter)
Every surface - our room becomes the dumping ground!

MY PLAN OF ACTION -
I will clean out under the bed and chaise lounge
Organize ALL clothes and get rid of things we don't wear
Finally get around to listing all of our stuff to sell on Ebay

any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

well i got kinda stalled on the bedroom, because on saturday i made two huge holes in the shower wall . i was trying to remove old caulk and redo it, well there was a bit of damaged wall. so i finally got to replastering the wall tonight. i can't wait to paint it over and finally take a shower!!!
hope to go through more clothes tomorrow, we will be snowed in for the day i think.

Well, after a very productive first few days (wherein I emptied my closet) I have made zero progress in the last 10 days. Goals for this weekend:

1. My dresser, inside and out. Purge clothes. Really. It's full of stuff I don't wear, even after I took half of it out. So out goes another half. And the top... that's a project for naptime, I guess.

2. Finish getting all of everyone else's laundry out of my room. This has been happening very gradually, but the good news is that nothing NEW has come in. I've been using the fold-by-the-dresser trick, and I have not accumulated any more in my room! And though I haven't made any forward progress, my closet is still clean. So not much momentum, but at least no backsliding.

Still two weeks left.

Well, I didn't have big plans for my room, but I did manage to store some of DD's "baby" toys/soft books and I got the catch-all basket off my dresser

I also emptied the top drawer of my nightstand and now DD uses it to store her library books (we co-sleep and read her books at bedtime). Now, I won't have a stack of Maisy books on my nightstand anymore

I actually did mine last night. I still haven't joined the thread, lol, but I have been following along. I will try to post pics tonight!

I've really made a dent today. I tackled my dirty laundry, seperating it and I've been doing loads all day. I'm determined to get that done tonight. I also cleaned up the computer area, my dresser and nightstand I emptied the dresser completly and now I have a bag of clothes for goodwill

I'm feeling really defeated by this room, by the whole house really. There is just so much to be done, but very little that I can do on my own. Because we have to re-do the ceiling everything is getting worse instead of getting better. And we don't have or can't bring in the organizing and decorating things that we need and want until we are done more of the structural stuff. : I'm just really frustrated by it all today.

I'm hopping in late - which is ok, because my master bedroom is probably the LEAST horrible room in my house, so it shouldn't take that long to organize.

WHAT I LIKE BEST ABOUT MY MASTER BEDROOM (Include a picture!) The windows. There are four. I like that.

WHAT I LIKE LEAST ABOUT MY MASTER BEDROOM We have no headboard or footboard for our bed. It's just a metal frame. It's uglor.

HOT SPOTS (spots in your room that tend to collect clutter) The floor... Mainly because my DH comes home after a week or a month away for work, and dumps his bag of laundry on the bedroom floor. I have no idea why he does this. It drives me INSANE! He also changes diapers and leaves the dirty ones on the nightstand, instead of walking 5 feet to put it in the diaper pail. He makes it so difficult to stay organized! I should just list "My Husband" as my hot spot for each of the room challenges.

MY PLAN OF ACTION Our main issue is laundry. We have nowhere to put dirty laundry, so it accumulates on the floor, and then gets moved to the hall, and eventually to the stairs, and then sometimes all the way to the laundry room. So I need to set up a laundry system upstairs. I also need to put away the 19 loads of clean laundry waiting for a home. The other issue is with the counter in my master bathroom. I HAVE ISSUES WITH PRODUCTS!! There are so many! I need to fix this issue.

First, I just have to say that the little person in your bed made me smile! As for paint suggestions, I'm thinking a Tuscan gold, but in an uneven finish, either a wash or a crackle type effect.

Yesterday and today were really good for us... DH bought a new drill, so now we can hang shelves (and our organizer for the kitchen-yay!). Also, we did the actual switching of our MBR and office/craft room.

Our new bedroom is so nice to sleep in: smaller window to block out more light, the color is dark red, so that makes it darker, too... and best of all, there's nothing in there but the bed and a lamp, a fan, the monitor, and the alarm clock. Woo-hoo!

The MBR is smaller than I was imagining when I was thinking about how to arrange all of our furniture, so I did a little tweaking of my ideas... Instead of having a blocked off section for crafts, and another for a play area for DD, I just decided to make it more open and seperate at the same time. Basically, DD will have access to the craft area, so I just have to make sure it's always child-proofed (no scissors, pins, etc exposed). I just got done spending an hour or 2 putting fabric back on shelves, and that was fun to organize. I still have a lot left (I can't believe how much fabric we have!). I'm not looking forward to bringing craft stuff up from the basement after getting all of this stuff put away. There is just so so much. I'm going to have to consider purging some more.

Back to work. Not long before DD wakes up...

1. painted
2. put in all the furniture we had -- bedframe, dresser, gla front cabinet, one nightstand, mirror, pics, etc.
3. put up curtain -- had velvet, bought embroidered
4. bought headboard at Pottery Barn outlet for $150!
4. bought some bed linens (duvet cover, quilt, bedskirt, and some shams) -- mostly used.
5. bought washstand on town to use as nightstand
6. cleaned shelf in closet

Here's what I still have to do:
1. touch up paint in a few places
2. put pics above the bed... I want to put a row of touching frames
3. dh still has to clean out his half of the closet -- probably won't happen

DH is going to hang pictures in our MBR today if everything goes as planned. I hope having them up will help me decide what duvet cover set to get - I have 3 picked out. Hoping one of them will go on sale before I actually get around to buying...

These are paintings that used to hang in our living room but we get so much direct sunlight in there that we were worried about fading. So we're going to get some sort of metal or wooden wall hanging for in the LR eventually, and hang our pictures elsewhere.

OK, I made it public. I didn't realize I had to make each album public. I realized that the wall color looks a bit brighter in the pics. It's actually a nice burnt orange color. What do you guys think for above the bed?

Oh, I forgot a bonus. I organzied three crate of photos from the basement into two photo storage boxes in the bottom on the glass front cabinet in our room. Yeah!
