Thanks I can't believe how much stuff we have. I feel so bad about the total, that I'm actually lumping some items - like the tiles I got rid of. I listed it as "1 box". It's more like 100+ tiles (the 4"x4" white ones commonly used in bathrooms).

The house actually doesn't even look all that cluttered. It's just a few boxes here and there that get filled. I went through the "box of stuff to be filed", and dumped another 100+ pieces of paper. Also donated a mirror and dead DVD player to the local Discovery Center. I have another 2 bags of stuff for donation / consignment, and I am slowly filling up the pickup truck for another dump run. The previous owner of our property left us piles of "scrap" wood. Of course it's all rotting and nasty. I'd already gotten rid of about 20 pickup loads last summer. We have at least 10 more to go. We've re-used as much as we can in building a deck. The rest just needs to go. Right now my total is 801/750. Let's see if I can make 1000!

Alrighty, I am so not keeping count anymore : After posting yesterday evening, dh and I starting going through the file boxes. One whole 14 gallon bag of paper gone. He also got three whole boxes of his stuff (tools and stuff) out of our master bedroom. This morning, I ditched the box of canceled checks (dated 1999 to 2005) and yet another 14 gallon bag full of old papers. I actually now have room in the file boxes to spare, and the "archive" box is empty! I am so glad my mom is here - she helps distract the kids while I'm sorting mountains of stuff, and has been helping me complete some projects (like hanging the curtains I bought a month ago).

1/7 bags of "stuff" given away (I'm counting the box of glasses as a bag here)

7/10 pairs of shoes given away

20/25 pieces of clothing given away

0/5 bags of papers to be recycled/shredded. I'm working on this one...



I'm supposed to have seven more things picked up tomorrow, so hopefully I'll be back to post more then!

I finally got rid of all of my bottles out of my car for recycling! That was 100 more items! (89 more bottles and 11 bags!) YEA!! Next week I'll be at my parents decluttering my stuff they've been storing for me then I'm coming back home hopefully to finish up the basement at our place!

(My goodness, I'm so glad to finally have that thing out of my basement!! And made some cash, too. Craiglist, baby!)

That was last night. This morning, a bag of stuffed animals and a fan got picked up by a Freecycler. So, here's the new count:

3/7 bags of "stuff" given away (I'm counting the fan as a bag, since it doesn't really fit anywhere else)

7/10 pairs of shoes given away

20/25 pieces of clothing given away

0/5 bags of papers to be recycled/shredded (Still collecting, sorting, etc.)

So, all in all, 30/47!

So I sorted as I folded laundry and went through ds1's drawers and closet. The too small clothes are not packed up for ds2 yet--still waiting on dh to wash the dust off the plastic tubs from the dust storm last week so Ican bring them in the house. So I am not counting the clothing yet, but this week

So to add to my total:

12 socks, rags, and undies that could not be reused, thrown out
1 t shirt to tear into baby wipes
1 nightgown to turn into baby wipes
3 diapers demoted to cleaning cloths
5 assorted broken toys/pieces of toys thrown away

New total 108/250!!

I just took a full truckload to goodwill.: I didn't count, but I know I've blown past my goal of 500. I'm going to do another 300 this month, starting tomorrow.

It's kind of disheartening to think that I've taken out this much stuff, yet I can't see a visible difference in my space. All of the things I've purged have been things that have been hiding in the storage spaces in my home!

well i'm joining rather a bit late but...

i got started on my garage last night. the place where clutter goes to live in the winter anyway the back of my car is full of stuff for goodwill now. a carseat and a double stroller went to live in the outdoor storage closet until they sell. sorted through a bin and decided what to sell and what to give away. actually found a few small things i want to keep : put away some car care stuff. next on the garage adgenda? finding a home for a box of saleable items. guess that means i've got to tackle the e-bay closet i don't think i'm going to count this month i'm just going to plug away at it. my goals for now are to clear the garage. and clear out the e-bay closet. (i'd like to eventually convert the e-bay closet to a hobby closet)

199 pieces of paper over the weekend. 8 more outgrown things.

DH was sick all weekend so we didn't start on his stuff:

Woohoo!!! Taxes AND federal financial aid forms are done! I am going to give myself 1 point per hour of time spent, so 5 points. Taxes were a little trickier this year with the adoption credit (looking up cc statements and receipts from 2 years ago!) and such, so it made my head :

Whoops I forgot that I shipped a box off a few days ago.

I sold our comforter, flat and fitted sheets, 2 pillow cases, 2 shams.

That counts as 7 items right? Plus the box that I shipped it in, which was sitting the the basement.

WooHOO! I took another load to SVDP today.
one large mirror
four medium boxes of misc. clothes, toys, and household goods
one large rubbermaid tub of bedding

I count that as half a carload so I have another half to do before the end of the month. :
