March Decluttering Challenge! (think Spring!) - Page 9

I organized my basement today but only got rid of two things. LOL I'm still only one away from my goal! I hope to list a few more things on Craigslist.

2 boxes, flattened and recycled

113/250

I cleaned out the car today for an upcoming trip. When we get our oil changed, they will wash it AND vacuum it for me, included in the price, if it is where they can. Good incentive to get it done today So from my car today:

127 trash I can't believe there was this much junk in there!!!
and 32 items relocated to their homes in the house (toys, sippy cups, etc.)

So my total is 272/250!!! Woohoo, I made it. After we get back from our trip, I may add a bit more. We'll see how worn out I am from our mini vacation

Oh, I should really think about cleaning my car out on one of the nicer days... good idea!

So. I MET MY GOAL TODAY!

I recycled an old trash can and flattened and recycled another box.

Alright, I'm joining in. I've been getting rid of stuff all month, but I haven't been keeping track. I was going to set my goal for 100, but I think I can do better then that. So 200 items, before the end of the month, starting yesterday. I have ten for yesterday and 15 today for a total of 25.

cheating?

We "decluttered" some jars of change

$146 in $1 coins and $191 in $0.50 coins -- can I count it as 528 items?? :

Ok, just kidding. I'm counting it as 3 - it was 3 jars of change. Plus, I shredded more old bank statements (4 bags after shredding)

7 for today

p.s. I sold 4 books on Tues and forgot to count them...

I'm at my Mom's in Texas and I just (conservatively) got rid of 183 items from the garage! Now off to the storage room!

Quick question, what do you do with old trophey's? I have trophey's from 6th grade through high school, I feel weird throwing them away, but I don't really want them, what do you do??
Thanks!

i actually took a carload of stuff to good will the other day.

today is laundry folding day so i'm considering that de-cluttering for the day. get those overflowing baskets out of the living room and those clothes put away... YAY!

posted a few more things to craigslist.

haven't touched the e-bay closet. (maybe that could be next month's room challenge?: when do we vote on that?)

i am in the middle of 12 straight days wohming w/ no day off. so i have been slow...

still feel very encouraged even though i'm doing more lurking than de-cluttering ladies!

We finally got to that last basket of clothes that kept getting put off being folded as well as some of the regular laundry. Some of the clothes had been washed as far back as December Dh had been wondering where all his sock were, and had even bought more because he figured I had purged all the holey ones and he didn't have any left Nope, he has TONS of socks, they just never got folded or put away with all the holiday and company commotion.

So adding to my list:

1 ignored basket of clothes folded
22 holey, dirty, or unmated socks gone

So my new total is: 295/250!

There are charities that take them to give out. I know there's a place that teaches people with disabilities to ride horses. They take old trophies to give to the participants. I can't think of it off hand, but maybe you could google it?

I went though my daughter's tubs of clothes for 0-12 months and got rid of 47 things, mostly out of the 6-12months stuff. Made myself get rid of the adorable pants with no shirt to match, cute sleepers that were a pain to put on and take off, and a few things I just didn't like! Probably could/should have gotten rid of more, but we're working on getting licensed for foster care so will hopefully be in need of clothes in the next few months

I'm hoping to go through her too-big along with the last too small tubs of clothes some today. There are a lot of hand-me downs in the too big stuff that I didn't even like.

I haven't read this whole thread, but I've seen the "decluttering challenge" bits in others' siggies and thought I'd come check it out. I am in some SERIOUS need of decluttering motivation. I can visualize in my mind where I eventually want to be, but then when I compare it to where I'm at... it just feels like an impossible task. I've started and stopped and started and stopped several times over the past couple of years, but now I feel the need to start and NOT stop. DH and I will probably be moving later this year, so if I get rid of a bunch of stuff then it will be a lot easier to move.

I'm going to make a March/April goal of 200 items, and 3 "tasks". (I have a big list of "tasks" that need to be done, too, that won't necessarily get rid of anything but will still be accomplishments.

Wish me luck!
