Cramps? Pelvic Pressure? Contractions?? HELP!!!

I am 39 weeks pregnant and last night I kept waking up with the most excruciating pain in my lower abdomen area. Generally, I blame it on the pelvic pressure and change position and it's good, but last night it kind of felt like the same thing as what I've felt before, but it was more persistant than usual. This is my first baby, so I have no idea what a contraction feels like! It was a really sharp stabbing kind of crampy pain! It kept coming and going off and on all night, could this have been false labor or was it just more pelvic pressure?

I need help from all you experienced woman out there!!!

I really have no clue what it is, but I too get occasional stabbing pain in my vagina/pelvis area - it never lasts for long (at least for me), but it certainly makes me wince!!

I've been having those today off and on, but it doesn't feel like what I remember contractions being. When I had contractions with my 1st, I had cramps and pain, but my uterus was tightening, too. Most women know they are in true labor when there is a definite pattern to the contractions. Like they'll be, say, every 10 minutes apart, and they'll build up, peak, and then recede.

I have been getting this for the last 6 days... my midwife says it is my cervix relaxing and stretching. It feel like PMS cramps to me (but then I used to get really bad cramps).

real quick (ds2 grabbin me) my mw said drink LOTS of water -- i woke up to those last night, had a glass of water & 10 minutes later laid back down & slept til dawn.

Weird!! Last night I had a great sleep, no pain, no pressure, no NOTHING!!! I wonder what the hell was going on the other night!!

Same here... about three days ago I was having some pretty painful contractions (just not close enough) and now I haven't had to much of anything. My pelvic still hurts and I feel a discomfort like cramps coming from my cervix.

I know this may sound silly but I have had this fear lately that I won't know I am in labor and he just falls out. I guess you could call this thought my wakeful pregnancy dream.

Beth Ann-- I have been having the same funny irrational thoughts about not knowing I'm labor and then all of a sudden...........baby I called the mw last night thinking it was it, but there was no pattern to the pain. Its just getting more and more intense as the nights go by.

I think now is the time for irrational thoughts. I have been having them by the handful.

I have been having the crampy yucky feeling too and really freaking out, like this is painful, if I am complaining now.........how am I gonna get through labor. I always thought I was a tough girl...........until now. I want my power back!
