do you switch sides? i often read how mama's just hand over the boob for baby to nurse during the night. i do the same thing (i can nurse lying on my side and lying on my back!) but do mama's switch sides? thanks

funny, i was going to post the same question!

I do switch sides, which isn't that easy, but otherwise i get engorged on one side.

nak

yes...i just move the baby over me when she or I wake up thru the night. Otherwise my hip/shoulder gets very sore.

i move myself over the baby to switch sides. gives me a chance to fluff my pillows, too!

I switch sides at different feedings, but then again, that's what I do all day long too. One side a feeding, and then I roll the babe over me to my other side when I wake up for the next. Of course, sometimes I'm too tired to remember, and then I switch sides, probably like 20 minutes into a feeding when I realize something isn't quite right...

I sometimes move the baby to the other side, but most often I just get her latched onto the other boob. I'm not sure when this happened, but I can now reach with both.

Funny you should ask....I nurse on one side, then switch sides the next time he wakes up for the next feeding. BUT just this week I started trying to reach the other boob to him from the same side, since I'd love to stay on my left side, and that keeps him between me and the wall where he sleeps better w/o blankets over him, etc. blah blah. Not sure how that's working yet. When I give him the "top" boobie, I have had to kind of stay awake to maintain a somewhat comfortable position/latch. It may be easier to just move DS and turn to the other side and then fall asleep. I haven't decided yet.

I just roll over to the other side and take babe with me. Otherwise I get engorged and my hips hurt.

I nurse on one side, baby falls back asleep, when baby wakes, I hold her to my chest and roll over and let her nurse on the other side.

I do switch sides (well, I did before we night weaned) and I'd nurse dd on the breast farthest from the mattress by leaning/rolling over towards dd. Then I'd roll back a bit and nurse her from the breast closest to the mattress. If I didn't nurse both sides at each feeding I'd leak everywhere and dd always seemed to want both!

Oh, and I started with the "top" breast since it was easier to fall back to sleep nursing from the "bottom" breast and that was dd and I could both drift off again after a few minutes.

When DS was little I would switch sides during the night and move him from side to side, but since he has grown and comes to find me I have found that he can reach both from one side, so I make him switch top to bottom when I have had enough of one or the other. He is a master twiddler.

Yup, I switch but I don't sleep on the same side for very long so Ilana and I are constantly rolling over together. There's no way I could lay on my back and nurse baby on the side.

I don't do the "grab and roll" because I have very little bed space (DH, DS, boxer, and me in full size bed)... so I get up over him in a hand/knees position, gently sliiiide him over, and lay back in the same spot I was, only facing the other direction.

But I do switch at each feedings. When he's not feeling well he will only nurse from the right side, even if I offer the left... those are some bad mornings for my leftie!! LOL

yep i usually feed on right at midnight then left when babydot! gets up in the am unless shes hungry again soon then she gets same boob again

He has always only nursed on one side at night, so I do switch every other time. I drowse through his nursings, usually, so I'll just do the tuck and roll to whichever side he's not on

NAK. this is what I do.

Yep! I move him to the other side when he wakes up and wants to nurse in the middle of the night. This also keeps my hip from getting sore. We just switch back and forth for each feeding through the night.

Yes, I too do the "grab and roll" each time dd wakes up and wants to nurse again. So she just does one breast per feeding (also true during the day). My hip and back get horribly stiff if I don't switch sides in the night. With DS, I never mastered the "grab and roll" so I would kneel up, slide baby over, then lay myself down on the other side. Grab and roll is so much easier!
