when does the placenta take over hormone production

Anyone remember when the placenta takes over the hormone production?

I am nearing 8 weeks and the last day or so have been better for me. I am still tired, breasts some sore and lots of food aversion but not nearly as bad. So I wondered if the placenta had anything to with my feeling better.

Not sure, 12 weeks maybe?

12 weeks is when the placenta takes over production of progesterone. Before that it is the corpus luteum (the place were the egg came out of)

Supposedly it starts producing around the 8th week (hence some OBs only supplement through there) and is finished by about the 12th week when all hormone production is via the placenta.
