My Senator's office called me!

Yipee! My Senator's office called me about my letter that I emailed to him about Medicade funding for circ. I have sent hundreds of letters to various people in office and people in businesses and I have never gotten an actual phone call in return. I thought this was really positive and maybe it would inspire more of you to write to your local Senators and Assemblypeople about Medicade dunding for circ. Maybe we can get some attention and one day circ will be outlawed. :

They told me that they had forwarded my letter to three different areas that deal with Medicade funding. I found this very positive, especially calling me personally on the phone and not just sending me some "form letter" or ignoring me altogether.

is your letter general enough to be adapted by others to address to their lawmakers? If so, would you mind posting it?

Thanks so much!

I took it from this thread:

Just adapted it to my state. It worked beautifully.

I emailed my state rep and she emailed me basically saying that since it's decreasing that there's no reason to outlaw it. :

wow, what a nut. So if theft or abuse is on the decline it shouldnt be illegal anymore? What about female circumcision, it happened far less than male circ when it was banned, maybe it was on the rise and thats why they had to make it illegal? I think she really doesnt care about circumcision and probably just took something out of your letter to use against yourself. She probably didnt even realize it made her look like fool who knows nothing about what she is talking about.

It is hard to take time for all the activism that speaks to our hearts. There is so much cruelty in the world and circumcision is at the top of the list!

In another thread the question was asked if the MGM Bill has a chance of being made into law. I think we should all plant the seed in the minds of our LOCAL officials now and maybe it will be years to come until this item is put to vote, but they need to hear the message over and over and over again from many different people to make it clear that it is something that people care about. I think once our intact children are adults and sitting in public office and their partners are their as well, we will be heard better.

We have years and years of work ahead of us, but we must not give up. That is what happened to the fur activists. In the 80's they were so close, people were afraid to wear fur in public, or just turned off of it. The activists needed only to give a little more push and we could have really seen fur be a "thing of the past." Sadly it is back with a vengeance : So I guess I am just saying that we must keep pushing and pushing and pushing the issue with people who can make a difference. As well as educating parents and doctors. We will win
