Over 30?

Okay - who here is over 30? And did you always plan to have kids at this point in your life?

I was kind of hoping to be done by 28, but things change...

What about you?

Yup, 33 here and probably 34 when the baby comes! I thought I would be done early as well, but since I didn't even get married till I was like 27, that was tough! DH is turning 40 (gasp) in a few weeks, and says this is it for us, so I am bound to enjoy every moment of this pg!

I am offically AMA

turned 35 this month (but we DID concieve before-- i was all freaked to be preggo before 35 )

DS is 15 months -- so do the math I didn't have him till late too

I meant to be DONE with birthing babies by 32 and actually hadn't started. we married late.

DH is gonna be 41 soon. he was so happy just to have one child before he hit 40.

but this is the last prgancy for me -- not last child.

I'll be 32 in a month and I'm pg with my first! I had wanted to be done by 35 (yeah, the whole AMA thing) but that's not looking like it's going to happen unless I have 2 sets of twins.

I'm 30. Unless the baby is really late, I'll probably be 30 when it's born too.

I'm 30 now, will be 31 when this little one arrives. Dh has always said that he wanted to be done by 35 (he will turn that right after 'spots' arrival) because he has this fear of being an old (read:boring) parent during the teen years. Now, his parents were older than mine, and not at all boring, heck, they are still more fun than we are half the time, so no idea where this comes from, but works out good, since I was planning on another year first, so this fits his 'plan' better

But wow, the idea that I'll be nearly 50 before the nest is quiet, hadn't really added that part up yet!

I'm 34 and will be when the baby arrives. I've got a 3 year old running around too.

I never thought I would have kids until I was in my late 20s and then I wanted some time just to be married and concentrate on my work before starting a family. Of course, most everyone I know waited until their 30s (or maybe later? since some are still waiting)....

Funny, I thought I'd be done by 30 as well. I was 28 when DS was born.

31 now, will be 32 when this bug HOPEFULLY arrives!

I was 28 when DS was born and I thought everything had turned out just perfect. But like I said, things change.

I will be 30 when baby is born - no way baby will be born THAT late that I'll turn 31, but I'll turn 31 within about a month if baby is born on time.

Nice to see all you mamas here!

Does it count that I'll be turning 30 about the time they're born?!

I started having babies at 20!...I never thought I'd still be having them. I thought I'd have all 6 done by...27/28! But, before I met Ben, when I was finishing college and planning my jet setting journalist career...I didn't expect to have any until after I married at 30. I would be done at 35. I'd also have the body of Michelle Phiffer or Heidi Klum instead of something more along the lines of ....the voluptous thing that it is now! What can I say...I resemble an image that men worshipped 100's of years ago... Earth Goddess...of course, Ben still loves and worships it too.

I just turned 40 last week.

If this baby sticks it will be my third and last. I didn't even think about children until I was 32 years old and had been married ten years.

Sometimes I wish I had started earlier, just because there do seem to be fewer things to worry about when you are in your 20s. But, the reality is, I am a much healthier person now and I am a much different person and I think (I hope) a more mature parent. I am just happy to have the chance to have another babe.

I'm 31, will have just turned 32 when the baby is born!

I've always planned on having kids about this stage in my life and seriously didn't even start considering it until I turned 30. DH and I have been married 6 yrs this month!

I'm 30 (and will be when the baby's born). I didn't find my DH until fairly late so even though I planned to be done by now it didn't work out that way. That's ok though. I'm just happy to be having the baby.

Im 34, will turn 35 a couple of weeks after baby arrives (Avoided that whole AMA thing, just barely!!)

Didnt start having kids until I was 28, and this is the LAST one. DH is 40 and is already freaking that this one will be 20 and he will be 60!

good luck avaoiding AMA

it is defined by age at birth -- so make sure the baby works with you
post #17 of 27
I am 30, will be 31 when this babe is born.

I was in my teens when DS1 was born, my 20s when DS2 was born and now my 30s.

34 here, 35 in 2 weeks, so I was well into the 30 zone when DD arrived.

I originally planned on being rich and famous and adopting a dozen kids, but that was not a very sustainable dream past the age of say, 12.

Then I wanted to start TTC around 27, which we did, and it took 6 years to conceive DD. So getting another BFP so soon after DD's birth is quite a surprise!

I wasn't even ready to get married until recently! I've always been so independent and career focused, that I knew I wanted a family SOMEDAY but it always seemed so far off. About 6 years ago I had a strong feeling that when I was 35 I'd be ready. Sure enough, last year when I was 35 I met DH, and now we're expecting! I'm 36 now, and will be when our little bean arrives. I guess I'll get pegged with the AMA thing, but I haven't even seen a doc yet!

When I was 25, I thought I might like to start around 30, but the time wasn't right. I am 35 and will be 36 when (knock on wood) I give birth to my first. I have tons of friends around the same age who are just getting started as well. I'd say it's pretty much according to plan for most of us.

We have been living interesting, fulfilling lives that will make us even better more-well-rounded parents!
