Electrical question...is this safe?

Yesterday I went to replace the lightbulb in the bathroom of our new house and when I touched it, the glass globe fell off and shattered into a million pieces on the ceramic tile floor.

Anyhoo...

I bought a replacement globe today, and am currently soaking the painted-over screws in nail polish remover in hopes of making them actually effective in holding the globe on. But I noticed that the bulb is basically just hanging from the wires connecting it to the ceiling...so when I put the globe on, the bulb is resting on the globe.

So my question is...is this safe? I imagine having a bulb dangling from a wire, pulling on it, is not, but is it also unsafe to have the bulb touching the glass globe? We use CFL bulbs, if that makes a difference.

TIA!

OK, I'm revising my question. I can't get the globe to stay on. (Well, I CAN, but when I give it a little tug to make sure it's secure it pops right off. Eek.)

So...how unsafe is it to have a bulb dangling from a wire? The wires are kind of stiff, but I can see that over time the weight of the bulb will pull them down more.

We will get the light fixture replaced, but it will have to wait until we can get someone more handy than us over here.

He says:

The cfl don't get hot, so it does make a difference. Get the fixture replaced asap. He also said keep the globe off of it for now.
