Again... Exactly my thoughts.

The way I see it: The situation is no different than my wanna-be photographer Hubby taking the liberty to tag along with me and the kids, to every fellow classmates Birthday party/event, sitting there snapping the entire time, acting as the party photographer, then turning around and posting them on said photgraphy (business) portfolio site without anyone's real knowledge, written or verbal consent. I simply would not allow my SO to act this way, and honestly find it kind of creepy. Especially when there's no real connection other than going to the same school, being in the same class.

Downtown, out in public is a total different story.

Now, like some of you have pointed out - If he walked in and proposed taking pictures of the party, child, etc... got an "okay," then it's a totally different scenerio. And/or offered prints as a gift, partial gift, then that, to me, is being a professional and ethical up and coming photographer.

Thanks for the input (and link)!

I love to take pictures and so want to learn more... so here I am lurking!

What programs does everyone use to edit/tweak pictures. That is where I need to learn!

adtake - I use Adobe CS3, although a lot of people I know just use Adobe Elements and the capabilities of Elements works great for them.

I also think it was unprofessional of him to put the photos of the party up. I take pics of my moms group GTGs but I only post them to the group, not on my website. I'm still portfolio building, so I tell all my clients that the images are going to the website (and give them a huge discount on packages).

For photog mamas that do a model release, what form do you use?

my Flickr, blog, and website are also all linked in my sig.

great to see new people on this thread! I edit with CS2 - but started with Elements 3 years ago and worked my way up. I use Adobe Bridge to edit most of my RAW files and then do final edits in CS2

Melissa - thank you so much. I shoot primary with a Canon 5D and prime lenses (50 & 85) I also have a 20D back up camera that I mostly let me kids shoot with LOL! I really love the feel of your work and wish I could make myself get out and shoot a non-portrait project for myself. I so much enjoy that in other peoples work. But as it is I find I am rarely grabbing my camera right now if it isn't for work.

Howdy Mama's...

Joining this group - and hoping to learn more about DSLR's in the near future. I took a couple of photography classes in college (many moons ago) and we just upgraded our camera tonight to the Nikon D80!!!!

I'm so flipping excited!

I'm so jealous of you all! I have a nice camera but I suck at using it--tried taking some newborn pictures today and I just don't know what I am doing, LOL. I love looking at all your stuff!

Wonderful work, ladies! So cool seeing everyone's portfolios!

DH is nervous about baby's picture being online, so I have nothing to share right now.

I bought an older manual Nikon at a yard sale. I know nothing about fully manual camera's. I put the film in but can't seem to wind it/advance it properly. Help!
