Bum on potty?

Inquiring minds want to know - dd is 3 1/2 months, and we use the baby bjorn potty bowl - but we just hold her over it and hope our aim is good. When did y'all start sitting baby on the potty? And do you just rest their bum on the edge (which seems kinda small for that) or actually let them sit? DD isn't able to sit up unassisted yet, but she's getting closer.

We started with DD on the BBLP around 2 months. It was just easier to have her resting on something than holding her in mid air over the sink/toilet/bathtub. We'd rest her bum on the potty while supporting her back. We alll seemed to find it more confortable.

We use the BBLP for 3 month old DS and it is very comfortable. Holding a bowl under a boy doesn't work! It sits on the counter in the bathroom, so sitting him on there and holding him is comfy. And we can both look in the mirror and play and smile and make faces. We love potty time. I actually have a picture and will have to get it onto DH's website so we can show y'all. It is really cute.

We started sitting DS on the bblp when he was 3 weeks old. Now he's almost 8 months we switch between bblp and toilet trainer, if he will sit (bit of a potty strike going on atm). He started sitting independently (ie not being held) at 3 months on bblp.

I'm short so we've always used the potty on the floor or sometimes on my lap.

DD has been sitting, supported, since 8 weeks. Now she can sit on it herself with pillows nearby as cushions for when she topples.

I'm an idiot - I've been trying to balance her narrow bum on the back of the bb potty while keeping her in a squat position. I should be sitting her, legs over the side, and just providing support so she doesn't tip over. PhD in what?

During the day I just hold him over a bucket, but in the early mornings I use the BBLP. It is right by the bed, so I grab it and put a blanket on my lap and the potty on the blanket. (The blanket keeps the edges on the bottom of the potty from digging into my legs and also helps stabalize the whole thang.) Then I sit baby right on the potty like he'd sit on a normal potty. He's 3.5 months now and holds his head up well but I still hold his sides lightly to help him stabalize since he cannot sit unsupported yet. I usually fold up a small prefold and put that in the bottom of potty so if the thing were to accidentally get tipped on the bed nothing would spill. LOL. If it is a cold morning then I let the prefold drape over the sides so his little butt and legs don't have to touch the cool plastic.

DH thinks I'm an idiot too - he thought I had some special reason for holding her the way I was lol !

Anyways, here she is sitting on her potty with a bit of help:

Uh, apparently the same thing my PhD is in. I figured this out yesterday. He's 7 months old.

:

Oh, and we started using the potty like a potty bowl when he was about 4 months. He's teeny and has a teeny tiny roo.
