What are some good sources for rugs? Either on line or brick & mortar (in the New York City area).

I particularly like flat weave rugs...any ideas welcome!

www.galaxyrugs.com

We've ordered both Oriental rugs and braided rugs from this company and have been VERY pleased with their prices and service (FREE shipping!). We had our new rugs within a couple of weeks of ordering.

If you are looking for a natural material without harmful chemical coating, beware. I ordered a very durable, well constructed jute rug from William Sonoma (it was on sale like 60% off). I was so excited, but when I received it I looked at the tag and it said a list of about 3 chemicals that were coating it to protect it. I mailed it back the next day and they refunded my shipping because I complained because they didn't disclose the chemical protection coating in their item description (not that they have to by law or anyhting). It just made me mad because jute is so durable on its own, it doesn't need to be doused in chemicals. Good luck finding your rug.

How about Ten Thousand Villages? Everything they sell is Fair Trade.
