I'm also having surgery soon. Dang. On Monday I'll know more- I was concerned about driving, but yesterday I got some old mail forwarded with a buttload of frequent flyer miles I need to look into. Maybe that was my miracle, I done manifested me a plane ticket.

Here is a link from sic society. It shows photos from past demos so that you can get an idea of past numbers of participants and signs that people carry.

OH I WISH!!!!!!! I'll have graduated by then and will be back at my parents' in NE Ohio (about 7 hrs away) but I have no clue how I would get there.

I was thinking of going to DC that week to visit with friends since dd and I are on Spring Break. Maybe if another good DING! fare comes up into Dulles I will be able to make it. At least I don't need to find somewhere to stay.

I went a few years ago... it was really cool.

I agree, the Best Western Skyline is in a pretty shady area.

We are going to be in Philly for the King Tut exhibition, but I'll see what I can do- that may be when we are on our way back, in which case I'll be doing it again!

If you can go, I'd highly recommend it.

What about a Greyhound?

Standard on Greyhound is $139, 7-day advance purchase is $89. It'll also be about 11ish hours each way depending on what option I took. Amtrak might be a possibility! It's about the same price as the plane ticket and about 10 hours each way. I am assuming buses are lots grubbier than Amtrak, but who knows. Input, anyone? Plus after this bus accident w/ the Bluffton baseball team I'm really wary. I don't like buses to begin with.

It sucks b/c the train there leaves at 3:15am on the 29th and the train back gets in at 1:30am. (the people I will depend on for rides are my parents. My dad works and my mom's 64. Late nights, ew)

I am seriously going to consider Amtrak, though. I don't have much to spare for boarding so I'm going to see if I could stay with my friend. She's a nanny in Alexandria but b/c she's a nanny in someone else's house I don't know if she could put me up or not.

The Metro Bus route B30 goes from BWI to the Greenbelt Metro Station. It costs $3 one way.

The B30 leaves BWI every 40 minutes between 7:00am and 10:50pm on weekdays and 9:40am to 10:50pm on weekends.

Pittsburgh's about 2 hours away from where I'll be living, though. I can't afford to pay to park my car there for a few days. Thanks for the tip, though. I'll keep it in mind if I think there's any chance in heck that my mom will support this and haul me the 2 hrs to Pitt.

I'm also tryingto figure out how I'd fill my weekend. I'd be all by myself! I love having alone time, but eek.

Hell, in DC? You'd have to drag me out of the Smithsonian for the march!

Talked to dh, & he's amenable if, as I've said, the universe keeps conspiring to get me there- tomorrow I find out about surgery dates, possible free plane fares, whether he can get the time off to watch the kids, etc. (He's actually pretty proud & would like me to get to go, if at all possible. Gosh, it would be nice if he could come- he's a native & could show me around.)

Anyone know if there certain dates/times when it would be most important to have the biggest show of people? We've done demos as a family before (for another of our other causes), but with a 3 yr old, we can't do more than a couple hrs a day.
