Can I donate bras/underwear?

I have almost an entire drawer of bras, of which I wear four. Now that my son is 2-1/2, I have come to the realization that I am never going to fit back into those bras. (At least, I don't think so... I am still nursing, but my rib cage seems to be bigger now.)

Can I donate these to Goodwill or another thrift shop? Several are in like-new condition (those would be the "fancy" ones from another lifetime).

I also have quite a few panties that no longer fit. Donate or toss? I hate tossing since I would have kept wearing them if I was still that size. But then again, they are used underwear.

These aren't really rag appopriate clothing items, so I think the choice is donate or toss.

I would definitely donate the bras that are in good condition. I'm not sure about the panties. Maybe call a charity and see if those sell?

My understanding is that they sell the unsaleable (ie., underwear) to rag merchants, so they get money for it. I hope so, because I send them stuff that otherwise I'd toss.

I've seen both in thrift stores-- I say, why not? If they can't use em they'll do something with them. (But I always wonder who buys the panties)

I'd save the undies to be cleaning rags and donate the bras. I always feel creeped out if I'm taking stuff to donate and it has a bra in with it. Sometimes the people at the collection sites are creepy enough without thinking that they may dump out the bag/box and see your bra. I always stuff the bra on the bottom. I had to add that.

That's what I'm doing- I have lost 55 lbs so I've got underwear that's three and four sizes too big. I'm using them to do the nasty, scrubby cleaning jobs I'd normally use a paper towel for, like scrubbing out the cat box then tossing them into the trash. If they're in good shape and cotton, I cut a square out of the back of them and hem it to make cloth toilet paper then use the rest to scrub. I do the same with my husband's T-shirts that he's no longer able to fit- he's also dropped 40 lbs. I cut them into squares for cloth TP, then the remaining parts (like areas with a logo on it) I use for scrubbing.

You might be able to offer the bras FFS or sell them if they're in nice condition on the TP. I found some nice bras from another mama here & it saved me big time. I couldn't afford to buy anything so we worked out a nice trade

I've been wondering about this too. I have a bunch of decent-looking 36Bs that will never fit again that are in good condition. The only reason I haven't dropped them off at goodwill is that one is a waterbra and I'm sure it'll freeze and pop all over the others! LOL

Have you thought about putting them up on the trading post? Even if you give them away for free and only charge shipping, I"m sure someone could use them.

Good idea about the TP. I'll have to go through my invetory and see what I have. I know I have some nice sets of bra & panty, but would someone want the panty?

My too-small panties aren't sutible for cleaning rags because they aren't cotton panties and they're, um, on the skimpy side.

If they aren't raggedy, donate them and let the people who sort things decide. They get scanky, dirty things sometimes so I assure you they won't be skeeved by clean used panties in good condition. I see them for sale in the stores.

Yes, donate. Let's not forget that many people shopping at thrift stores just don't have the funds to purchase new items. There have been times in my life I certainly wish I could have found some decent undies at a thrift store.
