From the first contraction to the baby's birth? First labor: About 12 hours - Arrived at the hospital 3 hours after labor began.
Second labor: 4.5 /5 hours *homebirth

Was your labour natural or induced? First Labor: Induced - CNM stripped membranes during office visit about 10 hours before labor began
Second labor: Induced - castor oil the previous day

Did you use any pain medication? No.

Maybe. But with ds1...
1) They didn't get us into a regular room until he was over an hour old, and the bed was a tiny twin with those 'fun' guardrails. And
2) They stole him off to the NICU without telling us while dh and I took a nap, so I didn't get to have much skin-to-skin contact with him until 4+ days later. Whole host of other issues I had with this, but half of it was a sucky hospital out to make money and half was I was a not-very-informed new parent/patient.

I went into labor 3 days after my due date. I woke up feeling crampy and spotting a little blood but didn't think sanything of it. I had an OB appointment at 2:45pm and after a rough vaginal exam started to have some serious cramping (long story behing the appointment, exam, etc. but I'm convinced I went into labor because of it.....) I left the Dr, picked up my DP from work and hd him drive the rest of the way home because my cramps were getting more intense. By 5pm the cramps were less than 5 mins apart so we went to the hospital. They sent me home after saying I was in labor but probably had a long way to go. Well, at 6:45pm, on the way back home, my water broke and by 8:30pm I was back at the hospital in my own delivery room. At 12:28 am my son was born. My labor and pushing, total, was around 5-6 hrs I guess. It was my first birth, all natural, and not induced. I'd do it all over again too, I'm still in awe over the whole thing, lol.

From the first contraction to the baby's birth?[/B]
#1: About 5-1/2 hours from the very first contractions at home but had "emergency" c-section when I was about 6 cm.
#2: 6 hours from water breaking (ctx started minutes later) including 1-1/2 hours of pushing.
#3: 2 hours from AROM at 4.5 cm including 1/2 hour pushing.
#4: probably days of prelabor - I was at 6 when I went to a dr. appt. and they asked me to head over to the hospital because it "could be any minute" - Baby was born about 2-1/2 hours from AROM at 7+ cm (about 1-1/2 hours after we got to the hospital), including 3-4 pushes, though the AROM did not work and we did nip stim about an hour after AROM to keep the pit away and finally a position change 45 minutes before he was born really did the trick.

Was your labour natural or induced?
#1: natural
#2: natural
#3: induced by AROM
#4: I'd say technically induced. I'm pretty sure he would have come that day anyway, possibly earlier than he did if I'd stayed on my feet longer.

Did you use any pain medication?
#1 none until the general anesthesia
#2 too much Stadol
#3 1/2 dose Stadol
#4 1/4 dose Stadol (was perfect amount to let me get back on top of things for the last 45 minutes)

Can't wait to find out what #5 will be but I know it won't be AROM or medicated (hospital now has a no-VBAC policy so they won't be inducing me or medicating me, possibly just catching IF we make it in time).

From the first contraction to the baby's birth?
24hrs (2.5 hrs was pushing)

At 41wks5days, I used acupuncture & an herbal labor tonic (black & blue cohosh, beth root) which started about 15 hrs+ of sporactic contractions before active labor kicked in.

Did you use any pain medication?
no. But kudos for helping me along the way to my super positive and supportive birth team: dh, my sister and our doula!

Epi with the first.

From the first contraction to the baby's birth? Just under 6 hours

Was your labour natural or induced? Natural

Did you use any pain medication? None - med free, hospital birth

As a side note, I also had 3 days of "pre-labor" where I would have contractions that were going on all day, but really weren't *that* painful. I could talk and carry on conversations, but it wasn't comfortable. They would fizzle out when I took naps or laid down to rest, but start back up again when I was moving.

From the first contraction to the baby's birth?

1st stage- 12 hrs, contractions were walkable, every 15-30 minutes. Second stage- 2 hrs, one of pushing (midwife arrived and immediately let me push)

Was your labour natural or induced?
Natural

Did you use any pain medication?
No

However I was fully dialated by the time I went into labour I think, so that helped.

Time from first contraction to birth: From around 3:30 pm until 11:47 pm, so just over 9 hours with just 45 minutes of pushing.
Natural or induced: I went to the doctor on my due date and I think he stripped my membrains, so probably induced.
Any pain medication: Yes, I had an epidural. Won't do it again next time, I was young and labor was a very scary thing at the time for me.

From the first contraction to the baby's birth?
1st- 2.25 hours
2nd - 4.5 hours
3rd - 3 hours

Was your labour natural or induced?
1st - pitocin induction
2nd -spontaneous labor
3rd - cervadil induction (which I will never, ever, ever do again)

Did you use any pain medication?
1st - epidural
2nd -no meds
3rd - Cervadil is evil. I had an epidural at 5cm, but my DD was out before it actually took effect because things progressed so quickly at that point. I was completely numb for the first 2 hours after delivery.
