I have to say I'm really disturbed at the idea of that slogan on a t-shirt. I think it would be better, less inflammatory, and more informative to say "Don't circumcise your child." With the picture, that would get the point across without turning people off and having them dismiss you as a lunatic.

I think the vast majority of people who circumcise don't intend to harm their children. They are woefully ignorant, but they want what's best -- and someone, whether the doctor, their parents, their friends, the newspaper, whatever or whoever -- has convinced them that circumcision is beneficial. They do not intend to rape their children, and calling them rapists is only going to shut their ears to our message.

There's a setting in the forum software that prevents people from posting a message that is all-caps. Mainly because if people write their entire post in caps, it's hard to read.

For the OP: I personally don't think that slogan would be a very effective message, in the sense of influencing people to question/research the practice.

I agree with the above posters. I don't think calling circumcision "rape" would be an effective advocacy tool. People would, I think, get caught up more in the terminology than in being educated or persuaded.

Plus, genital mutilation, awful as it is, is not rape.

Oh, really? How many times each of us was telling parents the TRUTH about circ and how many of them did actually change their mind?!
Most of them simply don’t care what they put their poor babies through (most, but not all, of course and many people on this board is a proof to that).
But for those who are ignorant enough to mutilate their boys just because intact penis looks disgusting (like a dog’s penis, like a worm, like a finger) and because when it’s cut it’s so much cuter and boys won’t laugh in the locker room and of course it’s extremely important to look like daddy, so for those I do feel a need to bring it to the next level.
Also I think I have a right to say that since I actually went through rape (by 2 men when I was 19) and I can see a lot of similarity (being held down, your genitals got violated). Having said that, I think that circ is actually WORSE than rape. The pain is worse by far and at least I still have my whole body…
But I agree on one thing the slogan does need a change. I decided to change it to “Circumcision is baby rape”. This way I can also wear this shirt during my kids’ ped’s visits.
I’m sorry if some of you feel that it’s too much, that circ isn’t as bad as rape. I obviously feel otherwise. And I feel very strong about it. I feel that it’s rape at the very least… I'm tired of being 'nice' and tell the facts 'gently'! It just doesn't work!
