cosleeping with 4?

Just wondering if anyone else is facing this! LOL

We have a king size bed, but James is a major bed hog. DH and I usually end up with about 6 inches of bed space. I'm wondering how this will work.

I'm thinking DS will go on the other side of DH (on the edge) and then the new baby will either be in the middle or on the edge by me depending on what side s/he is nursing on. (our bed is on the floor and we have 1 bedrail, just gotta get another one).

Anyone think that'll work? DH leaves for work at 4:30 am so that might be interesting from there.

Just lurking from the October group, but wanted to let you know we're facing it too! Only we're on a Full sized bed!

We'd planned on the 4 year old sleeping on the edge by DH and the baby between myself and DH.

We have four in the bed right now. : We ended up putting our queen on the floor and putting a twin next to it. It's nice because we all have room to spread out.

Wow - not sure how to manage that on a king or double. We'll be co-sleeping with 4, but with a much bigger bed. We've got a king and queen pushed together now, with the head and one side of the queen against one wall. My plan was for me and the bambino to sleep on the queen, bambino against the wall with a blanket in the cracks, and the menfolk (my DH and DS, 3 years old) to sleep on the king, basically with DS between the two of us).

We currently co-sleep with #4, he is 2 and I'm not sure what will happen when baby is born. He may be ready to get kicked out as he will be almost 3 by then. We'll see. He does sleep most of the night in his own bed and sometimes sleeps through the night in his own bed, so hopefully it's not a huge transition. I hope there aren't 4 of us in bed on a regular basis when baby comes. I don't think our Queen is big enough for that.

I think we need to consider getting a bigger bed. Right now we have a full : with 3 of us in it.

DS was a cosleeping graduate, who started coming back with us after we moved in December. He starts in his bed willingly, but come to us sometime around 2-4ish. We are not big people, so it works out ok to a degree. But, with a newborn...eek. That's not going to work.

I do have a cosleeper that was used a bit with DS, so that might be an option for us. Or, we might have to split up (although I'd hate to do that) if we cant afford a bigger bed by babytime.

We currently cosleep 4, we have a queen w/ the crib sidecarred. DS sleeps on the crib side (although most nights, he's not in the cib, but on the crack right up against me ) and DD between DH and I. With this next one, we're planning on getting another queen and pushing the 2 beds together with the head against the wall and one side of one of the beds against the wall. The new babe will sleep between me and the wall I think, with DD and DS between DH and me (unless of course 3yo DS decides to move into a big boy bed, but I don't really see that happening )

I would suggest that you push your bed up against the wall and either put the babe between you and the wall, OR your other child and have the babe between you and DH.

-- Theo naps in his own bed (a double) I lay down with him -- i rock him to sleep, then lay down then get up

-- Theo goes to bed in his own bed -- same as above

-- each time he wakes i go to him, rub is back, lay with him, nurse if we need to (trying to cut that down but it is sooooooooooooo hard)

-- the next time he wakes AFTER I have gone to bed (after cuddles and BD with DH) I go get him (11 to 12 usally) and he spend the rest of the night in our bed

What we are working on

-- praying he will start speeing more than 2 hours at a time, ever

-- i have moved him to between DH and I -- so he has body contact with DH too

-- going to start moving back so his only body contact is DH

Theo sleeping at least part of some nights in his own bed (joining us at 2 or 3 or 4) and sleeping next to DH

My MAIN reason for wnating him to sleep by DH is so that there is LESS chance of him waking each and every time i move or wake with the NB. As it is I get up to pee and he goes from what i THINK is a deep sleep to screaming.....otherwise him on one side and babe of the other is fine with me....but i need Theo to SLEEP ..... (wishful thinking, boarding on dulisonal)

That is EXACTLY what DH and I did...co-sleeping 4 also...while I was pregnant, we slowly switched DS#2's main body contact to his dad so that when new baby arrived and I had to move around he wouldn't be disturbed....it TOTALLY worked...he doesn't sleep much more, but when he wakes up he asks DH for hugs/water, etc. What OUR problem is is that he won't leave the baby alone! He wants to hold/hug/kiss/nurse/talk to her ALL THE TIME! That means when he wakes up at 2am and thinks it's morning he flops on me trying to get to her! (She's 2 mo old now and loves every minute of it)

We cosleep 4 plus our 55 pound dog in a CalKing. We were doing the bed sideways to maximize room, but DH begged and pleaded to have those last few inches for his feet--he's 6'3".
Most of the time, DS sleeps against the wall by a body pillow (he's 4), then me, then DD(who sometimes ends up next to DS (she's 2), then DH. Sage (dog) sleeps at the kid's feet.
We have 2 very heavy and pretty still sleepers, though DS used to be a tosser (we usually ended up in the "H" formation).
When DD was about 6 months, I no longer worried about her being up against DS. They learned to snuggle eachother--and, in fact, often end up snuggled and cozy by morn. One night, I even caught DS with his head on DD's back --(she was where his pillow used to be...) soooo silly, those two!!
