Art Fest Lifestyle - Can We Do It? X-Post

DH and I have decided to give the art show/festival for the only income lifestyle a try. He is an established painter and printmaker. He does several shows already working at it part time and makes a part time income. I plan on making my own art to sell as well, knitted things and paintings, maybe even some crafty things. We have one child and plan to add another one ASAP. We'll need about $2,500 a month to make our bills and for gas for travelling, materials and such. Maybe a little more. Are we crazy? Can we do it? Is it worth it? Do any of you live this way? Thanks so much.

Since both of you are doing it, it may be a viable income. I would also search out galleries and other ways of retailing your art to also give income. It may take time to get an established following at different festivals, too. One glass person I talked to did over 40 a year to make a living. I found that many are very competative and hard to get into, so your slides have to be impecable. I am sure some of this depends on the area you will be selling, too. Good luck!
