major nausea with clomid -- HELP!

DW just finished her five days of Clomid. She's taken it for a few cycles (not since December, though). The last cycle and this one she's gotten horrible migraines as a result. Tonight she puked. The other cycles (probably four or five total) she didn't seem to have any side effects. Ack!

Any advice about what to do to help her out with this?

Thanks!

This is my 2nd month on Clomid. I just finished a 3 day headache and last month was nauseous for nearly two weeks. No actual puking though. I'm not sure what you can do about it. I've been trying to drink lots of water & RRL tea (cold) and caffeine. Not lots of caffeine but I haven't given up my tea. I also did acupuncture last month but it didn't seem to help much. I don't think I'm going to do it this month, just due to time. I hope she is feeling better or worse soon Has she used Clomid before? Do you know how long it takes to work?

Well, she was definitely better this morning. But the headaches/nausea seem to come on in the afternoons. I sent her off to school with tons to eat, as that made a bit of difference last time.

Katie has actually gotten pregnant two out of three cycles on Clomid, so it's worked really well for us! (one was a m/c : ) I think it's because of that that she's able to weather the yuckiness of it.

I think, though, that what's strange is that she did take clomid for a few cycles without these symptoms, so it's strange to now have them.

Thanks for the soothing advice...all other ideas welcome!

I took Clomid and got pg with Isadora the first go around - and had absolutely no side effects. This time around I have taken it for two cycles and the second month I had HORRIFIC side effects. I became an evil bitch, had nasty headaches, hot flashes, etc. etc. My doc recommended I switch to Letrozole/Femara and this is my 2nd cycle on that. No side effects so I'm lovin' it!
The thing about Clomid is that it has a long half life. That means it isn't excreted out of the body for days and therefore any ill-effects will be felt even after you're finished your dose. Letrozole isn't like that...it's excreted out of the body in a short period of time.
If you do a search here on Letrozole you can probably find some useful information. If your partner doesn't get pg this go around (and I hope she does!) maybe you could consider switching.

I have read that the half life of clomid is 45-50 days...so it makes sence to me that the more cycles we take it the worse the side effects will be. This is my second cycle of clomid with a month off in between and the s/e were horrible, same as posters above. Hoping that it is worth it. If not than we will move on to femara. 3 pills on CD3.

Yup, Clomid has a very long half life whereas Femara is out of the system in a matter of hours/days. I've been on it twice now and have had significantly less side effects!

I've noticed too that there is no real rhyme or reason to how I feel on a Clomid cycle. Sometimes I feel okay, sometimes I am crazy, sometimes I get headaches- it just totally depends on the cycle. I hope this is the one for you guys, or that the next cycle is easier on her.
