Anyone skip the antibiotics?

I am starting the first step of my IVF - the birth control pills - this week. I was prescribed a Z-pak (antibiotics) to take with the pills. I've decided to skip the Z-pak and I'm wondering how upfront to be about this with my clinic? I eat/drink probiotics daily and have a nutritious diet. It is counterintuitive to me to kill off my intestinal flora at the first step of getting pregnant. Has anyone else skipped this step or was it not part of your clinic's protocol?

My clinic will prescribe another round of antibiotics at the time of egg retrieval. Again, has anyone skipped the antibiotics or was it not part of your clinic's protocol?

I have done ivf 5 times and was never given antibiotics with the pill. The last 3 times I had the procedure were with a different clinic and they prescribed the antibiotics at retrieval time, whereas my previous clinic did not.
I did take them as prescribed as the reason explained to me was a concern due to the assisted hatching that was being done. Not sure if you're having that or not.....good luck!

My clinic didn't prescribe antibiotics at any time. After much reaserch I didn't take the antibiotice presribed for an HSG. They didn't recommended then when I had a Hysteroscopy.

All the best.

Thanks for the info. I feel better knowing other clinics did not prescribe during the pill. We are having ICSI with the eggs so maybe I'll consent to antibiotic then, although I want an explanation of the reasoning before I do it. I'll ask at an appt. on 3/15.

Thanks Marlee for the added info of no antibiotics with ICSI!
