OK... sorry to interrupt the thread but I had to get that out.
OMGosh That is so funny! Slinging 4 kids would be really, really hard and awkward...LOL! I can only sling one at a time...LOL!

Oh I love reading these- what good medicine!

My birth fantasies usually involve attaining some higher understanding of the nature of the cosmos... some kind of reality-stripping cosmic orgasm where my husband and I become one with the divine love that fuels the planet, and our daughter births herself with complete trust and grace.

ok reading over that, I feel a little sheepish! But this is as close as I can come to expressing what I keep imagining (& dreaming about!)...

For one of the fantasies each cx makes progress that I can feel~I visualize my cervix being pulled open over the baby's head~ and I can feel the baby's cardinal movements in my pelvis. I birth before the midwife gets here and I usually birth in our big non-tub shower at the end of that one. That's the one that runs thru my head most frequently.

I also have extensive fantasies about how the phone tree is going to work and how the conversations will go when I call various people in labor.

Last night I had a dream where I wiped after using the toilet and there was blood. I think it was my mucus plug before labor. I feel like I'm going to get to loose it before labor this time.

I want to read more of the fantasies :

Another one I have is that I have really mild prodromal labor for a few days before active labor. In that fantasy I have a good attitude and I am happy to have an active uterus
All the green was absolutely true!!! (the purple, not so much)
I didn't mention in the posts above that I wanted a in-the-caul birth. That was another thing that came true! I could feel the presence of the cervical lip too.
I couldn't feel the cardinal movements, but I could definitly feel the baby moving down.

That's awesome. I have the absoute most respect for women who birth naturally in the hospital. It's amazing. I know I said "I can't do this" and had fantasies of epidurals at least 6 times during my relatively short labor. I learned that respect for naturally birthing women in hospitals during this labor.

i think i did say at one point "ok I quit I want drugs" my midwife knew I didnt, i had said ahead of time that even if I asked I still didnt want it. My husband laughed at that point. I remember also saying 'remind me again WHY i want to do this med free?? WTF was I thinking???" again my midwife is great and reminded me of all the med free birth benefits. it was worth it. i honetly hope to have one more at least and will definatly go with this midwife
