I have an unopened pack that's dated Feb 20. It doesn't say use by or sell by. I think it's ok to use. What's your opinion?

I'd use it unless there is mold in it when you open it or it smells really nasty.

It's not *that* old. I'd use it. Unless you open it and it's obviously bad, like moldy or stinky or something.

Cream cheese is one of those things I never look at the expiration date of. I just keep it until it goes fuzzy on me. And even then, I may cut off the fuzzy parts and cook with it. : (Don't tell DH!)

Okay, so I never pay attention to expiration dates in general. I judge by what the food looks and smells like. Oh, wait, that's not completely true. When something has a very very very long expiration date and it's normally supposed to expire, I do pay attention and don't buy the thing. One example is Girl Scout Cookies. I think any cookies that can sit out at room temperature longer than a couple of weeks without starting to go is not really food.

I just made a cheesecake with creamcheese that I bought three weeks before xmas...it hadn't gone bad (moldy) yet, and the cheesecake was soooo yummy!

Anything cultured I keep until it gets moldy or smells bad. Once I used some cream cheese without looking at the label, found it in the back back of the fridge and it had expired over 2 months before! It was fine.

I don't really look at expiration dates on cream cheese. If it starts to smell funny or grow things, toss it. Otherwise, I'd eat it.
