Luckily, my twin sister is an excellent student photographer planning to become a professional birth photographer and has already shot one birth. By the time I have a little one, she should be amazing!

Normally my mother. Last time it was my mws apprentice. For my hospital birth it was dh. One birth everyone took turns. Wish I could hire somone to do it professionally. I have shots of the side of my pool as the baby was emerging cause my mother got too excited. I have shots of breast pockets cause someone turned the camera the wrong way lol.

We hired a photographer for this birth & it was the BEST money I ever spent! I have such wonderful pictures of labor & birth...even if my face scrunches up during contrx
If you have the money, spend it.

AcK! Don't do it! I forgot to mention in my previous post that my DH has his BACHELOR's DEGREE in FILM;

and from my births where he was in charge of the dv cam, we have footage of...a nurse's back in one. And my midwife's back in the other. You'd think he would have learned not to set up with the tripod after the first, right? He used one both times.

I think he should have given the camera to a person.

In early labor some family was over, so whoever had a free hand picked up the camera from time to time. Then there aren't any pics until dd was born. One of the first things I said was "is anyone taking pictures?" DH's cousin took a bunch then. It was pretty dark in the room, so they all have this warm hazy look to them, which is exactly how it all felt. I wish I had been wearing a bra, though, because there are some lovely shots that I'd like more people to see, but some people are uncomfortable seeing that much of me.
