The baking recipes in NT

Is it just my oven or are all the baking times WAY off??

My first time trying a baked good from NT was Christmas. I made the carrot cake. The recipe said to bake it for 2 hours. Good thing I checked it at 1 hour and 20 minutes because it was DONE!

I made the spice cake with similar results.

The biggest difference was with the muffins. The recipe said to bake them about an hour, but mine were DONE in 20 minutes, and my muffin pans are the jumbo size!

Is my oven off? It's fairly new and a really good oven.

I found the same thing. I don't trust her baking times at all! Actually, I don't trust most of her recipes. There is always something wrong with them.

the only baking recipe i've tried is the buttermilk biscuits and they turned out great!

I'm finding that is true, especially for the baking recipes. I made the carrot cake last night, and it came out with a slightly tough outer crust, and mushy inside. I give up!

Oh good, I thought it was just me having trouble with the recipes...the cookie recipes have been turning out too crumbly and I thought I was doing it all wrong!

In the cookie recipies I add an egg to make it less crumbly. It works great.

It makes me wonder if the recipes have been tested ( does it say that anywehre in the book?) I too have had issues with the recipes, but usually with a little adjustment they work...but that is not something you want from a cook book...really...
