last time i used the fishy pool and didn't really have any problems with it. BUT my labor was super fast and i only got in it at the very end. i think i was in it for about 30 minutes and those were all pushing.

i was just planning to go with another fishy pool, but am interested to hear what you all like.

We're supposed to clean it??? Geez, you're so demanding!

I mean, um... We'll be using a La Bassine. Tell you in a few weeks what I think of it.

The round fishy pool. My midwife recommended it and said the clients who've used it have like it. We're planning a test run this weekend, and will be using it for real sometime in the next six weeks. Excited!!

I used the fishy pool with my birth before last, but all those grinning fish creeped me out and I had to throw a white sheet over them to concentrate!

The last birth (and this one coming up within the month) I used a pool that's a little bigger, with inflatable bottom, shaped like a flower. I found I loved the extra room and the flower petal indentations made it easier to maneuver in the pool. It was just a pool we picked up just before the birth at our local Meijer (like Wal Mart) and it worked great!

We'll probably use the big fishy pool again. It worked well last time.

Weed a Spa in a Box for Ava's birth. It took up a lot of space but i loved the filter, jets, and heater.

We ordered two. The large hexagon fishy pool and the la bassine. I was suprised how much I like the fishy pool, really I like it better than the la bassine but it takes for ever to fill and drain. I decided to go with the la bassine for that reason.

We have the Gentle Birth pool, from Waterbirth International (many thanks to Barbara Harper). It was super easy to set up, which surprised me. Hopefully we'll know soon how well it works.

This is what I used: http://www.qualityinflatables.com/58480.html I didn't find myself needing more space, although I wish it was a bit higher on the sides (i'm a pretty big girl). The thing about it that I LOVED LOVED LOVED was the inflated bottom. I would never birth again without a pool of water with an inflated bottom. It just made all the difference in the world, being able to be on my knees and crawl and to reposition myself, without hurting my knees/legs, and sitting on something nice and squishy.

When I bought mine, it was just advertised as a kids pool. I guess they got wise to what mommas were using it for.

i used a fishy pool but i'm really tall with long legs and a long torso so I was often very cold because most of my body wasn't down in the water (I liked being on my hands and knees a lot). I might think about a horse trough next time since they're so much deeper.

We're renting the spa in a box. I hope I'll get some use out of it prior to labor too.

I would love a pool with jets and a heater, but I've decided I want one inside and one outside so I'll probably go with the fish pool.

I was just going to ask about this. So you don't have to use the one the mw rents out? Does it depend on your mw do you think? What would you use to clean it-alchol? Or is there a special cleaner? The fish make me laugh-I can just see ds getting all excited about the fish and then there's a baby in the pool

When we set up the fishy pool, our 16 month old threw every ball she owned into the pool to claim it as hers. I was terrified she was going to be climbing into it while I labored and tried to send her to Nanny's when my water broke but she threw an epic tantrum to the point where we had to bring her home. She doesn't like being away from us.

As it turned out, she slept through the labor and the use of the fishy pool, and woke up a half hour after Isaac was born

have you all seen the new tubs Barbara Harper is carrying? They're pretty deep and have a seat in the larger one....
