40 + Weekers Support Thread!

Well, I'm officially 40 weeks today. My due date is next wednesday (based on early U/S). I was born at 42 weeks, DD was born at 42 weeks, so I'm trying to not even think I have a chance of going into labor for at least another week - but it's hard. And when i was pregnant with DD, I was honest about my period dates and had a 40 week EDD, so I got all the 40 plus weeks rigamaroll from my CNMs - the non stress tests and frequent appointments and pressure to induce. I also ended up resorting to a variety of ways to try to prod myself into labor to avoid induction.

I know I'm not the only one who will end up in this boat. While I mentally know to be patient, the baby will come then it's ready, there's no sense in losing my patience, etc.... It's hard to be patient when you want to meet your baby. Anybody else pass the 40 week mark and want to take a vow of patience with me (or, wanna share what you're doing to naturally encourage labor soon? I won't tell anyone...)

I'm past my due date it was on Sunday, I've never gotten to my due date before so this is a new experience. I woke up with contractions at 1:30 this morning and tried to sleep through them they were pretty good all day and started getting about 2 minutes apart but then tonight they have calmed down.

I'm praying they will start to build up again and get stronger, especially because my sister in law is in town only till Sunday and I really want her here for the birth!

I am trying to be patient too and not stress about it, it's hard when you are so excited to meet your little one though.

Jumping over from Feb. DDC. I am now 41 weeks. My due date may be a little off since I didn't know the start date of my last period. I wasn't going to try to get pregnant until July so I didn't bother to track my dates. I feel absolutely fine physically. The baby is still moving a lot. It is bothering me cause my DH is so worried. I think he really thought the baby would be born on the due date although I told him time and time again that it is highly unlikely for a baby to be born on it's exact due date. I really feel like I'm being patient it is just everyone else that is getting to me. I like this thread. It is good to know that not every baby is born at or before 40 weeks.

Well, I'm only 39 weeks today, but I have a tendancy to go late. Dd was born at 41w6d and Ds at 41w1d. (I "induced" with castor oil with Ds) So I have a feeling I'll be joining you ladies next week when my EDD comes and goes...

According to my ultrasound I should have had the baby on Sunday, but I'm still completely intact baby & all!! Tomorrow is the "official" duedate and then I guess I'll be a 40+er!!!

& I really thought this baby would be early!!! I hope it comes soon though, I'm getting pretty miserable with this never ending waiting game!

I've tried fresh pinapple, sex (and more sex), and now I am hoping that the mopping I am in the process of doing will get labor started. Like I stated in the earlier post, I'm not so worried about it, but I keep hearing all these stories about what can go wrong when you go too far part the due date. My great aunt told me she went 5 weeks past her due date. I wonder if she had the correct due date? Her daughter was born kinda blue, but she turned out to be fine.

5 days over right now. I feel OK, but the people around me in my life are behaving like total turkey butts, and it is really starting to wear me down. I have been late twice before, so why is everyone so dang surprised?

I mopped but still nothing. I have had absolutlely no signs of labor. I am so excited though. I can't wait to meet my baby

40 weeks and 3 days here, color me disappointed.

DD was induced at 43 weeks (13 years ago) and I had seriously hoped that this baby would not take after his sister.

Let's see, what we have tried: sex (not so much fun these days, but I'm willing to do whatever I can), nipple stimulation, and EPO since 37 weeks (both orally and vaginally). I've eaten curry, tandoori chicken, spicy black bean chili, eggplant, and one night I ate a whole pineapple, only to suffer from indigestion all night long. I'm eyeballing the cohosh tinctures and googleing protocols now. I have crampy contractions nightly that start around 9-10pm and don't stop until I get up for breakfast the next morning.

My house is clean, the freezer is stocked, the baby things have been washed and put away, and DD is home from school for the next 4 days. Now would be a good time! I think I'll get DD to take a nice long walk with me today.

Patience is a virtue that I've never had in abundance, so I'll take all the support I can get.

It's just that starting at week 37, I think I could go any day, any second. And now it has been a MONTH since then. And I'm still pregnant.

My sister was due 10 days after me and has had her baby for a week now. :

I really can't picture going into labor. My dd is sick, I feel a little sick. No sign of baby. I was checked yesterday and I am 1-2cm and 10% effaced. Which means NOTHING I know.

Oh well, we can't rush the ripening.

Being able to walk about now would be nice.. I am getting upset because I cannot clean my house for the physical pain I am in.

I am offically overdue as of today. But I am sceduled for a c section Monday @7:30 am. My baby hasn't even dropped into the pelvis.. Can't wait to be preg no more.

My EDD is Saturday, an no action here so I may be joining you all soon. I had my dd at 39w2d so I am more pregnant now than I ever have been.
I'm ok with still being pregnant, I feel fine, but DH wants the baby to come.

I guess this is me too. My dd was a day early, hoping this one will be a day late
My due date was yesterday. My issue is that I left work on Feb 23rd and still nothing, which is cutting into my FMLA time. I'm going to try to do everything possible on Friday night-Saturday to get this baby out--it's DH's birthday.
Going to my midwife appt, will see what she says, but I really didnt think it would be this long. Yesterday was soooooooooo uncomfortable walking around, and today, I'm fine again.
My belly cant possibly grow anymore, I am starting to get horizontal stretch lines above the belly button!

Monday is my due date, so I still have a few days left, but I'm not dilated at all. I went 9 days past DS' due date, but I have a strong feeling that this baby's due date is actually early (my calculations point to the 19th or 20th). I really haven't been worried about going past the OB's calculated due date since I think otherwise, but for the last 2 weeks my blood pressure has been up and I've had some protein in my urine, so I know by next week they are going to start talking induction or c-section. So if anyone has some dilation vibes, please send them this way...: :

The bad part is that I am so *OVER* nesting. I don't want to do laundry. I am so sick of sweeping up the piles and piles of dog hair, I just can't be bothered anymore. I don't want to put stuff away. and I am FURIOUS that i'm STILL waiting for my dishwasher to be fixed, and it's been like 8 weeks. I'm literally going to just buy a new dishwasher this weekend if the appliance man hasn't come put the motor back in (he's a friend of the family and BIL's boss, so we use him, but it took him over a month to actually come check on it, then he took the motor home to fix it 2 weeks ago and still hasn't brought it back). I'm not trying to be a princess - but hunching over b/c you have to stand 1.5 feet back from the sink and washing dishes everyday is OLD, especially when I could have called a stranger and had it fixed in 3-4 days. If DH was home, washing dishes would be his job...but he's out of town 5 days a week. And don't get me started on how I dropped a bottle of shampoo yesterday and there's a big puddle of shampoo b/tw the toilet and tub and I can't bring myself to try to bend down and clean it up.

So I figure if I totally let the house go, I'll go into labor. Then spend the hours it'll take for DH and the MW to get here frantically cleaning...

this weekend DH is taking DD fishing, and my SIL, who's the only other person coming to the labor, is taking her kids to her mom's house 2 hours away and MIL, our back-up child care for DD and my back-up helper, is going out of town saturday- so I'll be left home alone. That should kick-start murphy's law, right?

I'm still here, 41 weeks today. My fear is that as I lay down in bed at night my water will break and I will be dead tired as I labor. Which I have had happen before, 4 times! I want to labor during the day so I won't be so tired. I am also terrified of going 43 or 44 weeks. Cause once I hit the 15th I don't want the baby to come out till the 19th cause my family will be gone that weekend. And the prospect of being pg till the 19th is just not my idea of fun. I will also be a nervous wreck by then. So baby you have a week. Come out!

Dh came home this morning with the stomach flu!! ack! just watch now I will go into labour with no help because he is sick....:

Hi everyone...how are you all doing. I'm just waiting. I went to the store and stocked the fridge for when the baby is born. I've been doing this for a month and a half now thinking the baby could come anytime. This has to be my last time at the store before baby comes.

I'm here to join the club. My edd is today (3/09) and nothing yet. I had a MW appointment today and I'm still the same as last week 2 cm and she said the baby could drop a little more , so I think I still have at least a few more days. I'm just going to try and not think about it all weekend. I think I've been focusing on every little twinge just waiting for the contractions to start.
