What is this?

For the past few nights, from about 8 PM to shortly after 9, I've been having what feels like spasms in my lower back. They are not necessarily painful, but slightly uncomfortable. They only last a few seconds, then start again for the whole hour or so. Could the baby be in a weird position? I didn't experience anything like this with DS1. I did have some pain in my back while in labor, but that was PAIN, not just a recurring annoyance. Any ideas?

Have you been doing cat stretches and pelvic rocks? Get on your hands and knees and arch your back/look at the ceiling for a few seconds, then round your back and tuck your head down - like a cat stretching then getting mad. It can help stretch you back out a bit, and also helps the baby move to an optimum position. Then, while you are on your knees, gently rock your hips side to side for 20 reps. Supposed to be doing 3 reps of 20 pelvic rocks a day a tthis point - also good for optimal positioning, and makes my back feel good. I alternate the cat stretches with the pelvic rocks and do them all at once - either after I put DD to bed, or in the bathroom while she plays in the tub.

Also, it could be your body's way of telling you time to relax and rest - sit down! Has your MW checked the baby's position? If it's posterior, I'd start some OFP stuff now...

I don't get spasms, but a strange uncomfortable sensation in my lower back and legs, and only in the evening. I get on my birth ball and do gentle stretches which seem to help.

ITA with Becca about cat stretches, to open things up a bit.

I have attributed the sensation (which kinda feels like the beginning of a spasm) to babe's position. But don't know for sure. But when I spend time on my hands and knees, it seems to help.
