brewing kombucha with additives

I am new at this.
I am brewing kombucha right now and need to add some already brewed kombucha,. All I have is a ginger one right now (GT's). Can I use that or does it need to be plain (and the ginger is to be added at the bottling stage).
Thanks.

It should be plain. You want to keep your culture and scoby as clean as possible. You add ginger and other flavors once it's finished brewing.

Okay, so what will heppen if I already added it and it is now brewing?
Luckily I have access to another scoby, but can I still use this one?
Should I let it go and see, or wil it be contaminated?
Thanks

So, me kombucha that was made with a little ginger flavored starter is coming along fine, or so it seems. How will I know if something is wrong with it?
