Oops, sorry for the confusion! I blame the preggo brain.

You can get ALACE training with DeeDee at the birth center. You can find out when the next training session is from the ALACE site. From there, you might be able to find a midwife to apprentice with.

So which day are we going? Anytime works for me, really. I'd rather go to Sttephens Lake park because it's a smaller one and I don't have to waddle too far.. hehe.

That is cool ,but i thought that you had to be ceritfied in the state of missouri?

To practice, yes and there are a couple of certified midwives at the birth center. To be an apprentice, no since you're practicing with someone else. You'd still have to get certified at one point though.

Ok it's Thursday and it looks to be a nice day!

So, DD and I will be at Stephen's lake park about 3pm or so with a shovel and a bucket cause we can't seem to leave the house without those lately. Hope to see you there!

It's pretty easy to recognize me.. the scarf gives it away.

I am sooooo sorry I just got this today. for some reason my alert to messages on mothering doesnt work sometimes. It gets put in my spam. I will tell you my schedule next week has thursday off I believe but i can give you a better day if need be. Also i am off sunday if you would like to go after i get out of church at about 3 if you would like. Sorry again about this. Bumping this thread to see how everyone is doing. How are you guys?

I'm 36 weeks along and.. almost getting there. I have way too many supplies still on the 'to buy list' and not nearly enough in the 'birth box'.

Hi, I'm glad this thread got bumped back up, I was just going to search for it!

I asked earlier about peds that are OK with not vaxing and Dr. Early in Ashland was mentioned. We live in Jeff City and am just not happy with our current ped. I'm thinking of switching but wanted some specific information if anyone has it.

Does anyone go to Dr. Early that does not vax *at all*? Does anyone know her stance on vax'ing? I'm just tired of going to our dr. who tries to guilt me into vax'ing every time we go. Yesterday my 6 mo. old had a well visit and I got a very stern lecture as well as a nice waiver to sign saying I was refusing vax'ing and how that was putting my DD at risk, etc.

Also, since we live in Jeff City, does anyone know if she has hospital privileges here? My 3 yo for example has asthma and it's landed her in the hospital before, I just wondered if we would be in Columbia if that were to happen again if we were seeing Dr. Early.

I also though I read somewhere way back about a dr. in Fulton being OK with not vax'ing but when I try to go back and search I'm not finding anything. If anyone has any information about this person too, I'd love to hear it.

Thank you so much for any info. you can provide - I'm just so frustrated, esp with our appt yesterday.

My daughter is sorta a patient with Dr. Early (have a chart) but since we haven't done well baby checks, I dno't have first hand experience with not vaxing. She has told me personally though that she has patients won't don't vax and is ok with it.

The doc in Fulton is Dr. McCray, I think. She used to work for the birth center in Columbia and I've seen her a few times. I do believe she's ok not vaxing but since I haven't seen her in that capacity I'm not 100%. I saw her for prenatals.

My daughter does not get vaxed. Dr. Kate( she sees the low risk kiddos for dr. early) pushed the Polio vax but was not overly upset when I said "no"

I have heard Dr. Early has privlages at Columbia Regional....not sure 100%

I would say call and talk with Dawn. She is the recptionist/take your blood preasure/get you into a room person. Very nice.

ON a more personal note I was hotlined for not signing the refusal to vax note from Green Medows Physcians. Namaste did not blink when I refused. By this point I had made up my own letter and had gotten a exemption card from the health dept and they (Namaste) said they did not need it, that it was parental choice.

Seriously? What exactly does that mean? CPS investigated you because you didn't sign a stupid form? What happened?

I was not very nice when they asked me sign it. I (Told the doctor to sign a reverse wavier that if I did allow vaxing and someting should happen that she would take over her medical cost. That she would assume all responsibility for her. Of course the doc was not up for that.

It went from not vaxing to me co-sleeping ( I must be an iresponisble mom) to only using cloth diapers to save money (well DUH!) and if I would go cheap and diapers what else am I scimping on. I was also breastfeeding against her wishes and Nevaeh was small for size, so she labled her Failure to Thrive just for the hotline.

The case worker called me and basicly said to switch doctors.

Hi everyone,

I am new to posting (and lurking for that matter) on MDC and I am in Columbia. Good to find this thread.

As for the post above....do you mind sharing the doc's name or is that too much info? I also go to Green Meadows and have skipped a vac and delayed others without any issues. Hopefully not the same doc, but dont want to recommend her if so. Just had another baby boy 5 weeks ago, so we are going down the vac plan again (at a slower rate than with my first son).

Thanks and glad to see there are others in the area on here!
