What is that when all of the sudden you can feel your baby shaking inside -- like vibrating a few times -- and then it stops? What's she doing in there?

I have been to afraid to ask.... :

Me too!!! I'm thinking/hoping it must be okay. Baby is still active, heart rate has been fine, etc.

the babes just trying to run a marathon really really fast in utero...
practice makes perfect right?

All my babies have done that too. Have no idea what it is. Maybe they get the hebee jebees . All our love is sending a shiver up their spine I don't know. Maybe they get stuck and can't get out again lol.

Mine does it too and it doesn't bother me except when people look at me funny and say "um did your stomach just shake?"

Mine does this a lot and I have a theory on what it is. You know how (especially when you first wake up) when you stretch out your arm or leg really far and it kinda shakes for a few seconds, that is what I think it is.

This is what I have thought. DD did it while on the inside- and when she got out, every once in a while she would shake a leg. The rythem was the same as what I felt while pg with her. This babe does it too, though not as often. And it looks funny.

Not sure but related - the other day I felt the baby startle all of a sudden and it scared the crap out of me! I seriously felt all four limbs go out and though my belly might burst!

This is exactly what I've thought it is, too...my baby does this often as well. Doesn't concern me.

I've been too afraid to ask too, incase it was something bad. I guess I womt worry, it looks like a few of us have babies that do this.

hi, popping in from april but i think i know what this is! it's the "morro reflex" that they do for the first few months of life--where they hold their hands out and sort of vibrate in response to startling stimulus. i remember recognizing the rhythm of the movement from in utero after dd was born, and my midwife confirmed.

I can hardly express how happy I am to see this thread -- and that others have shaking babies too! I have actually been worried that our little one has some sort of seizure disorder. But it sounds like it is much more common than I thought. Thank goodness for MDC!

Oh, and I'm from April lurking to see if March babies are starting to arrive!

perfect example

of why these forums are so important for us!

All of my babies have done this at one time or another. I have no idea why...

This is a nice thread to see. Neither of my two girls did this. And the vibrating feeling in my belly is a little weird. I swear I didn't swallow a cell phone. I told my dh that the baby was vibrating and that it was really weird and he looked at me like I was crazy. Hadn't mentioned it to anyone else since

Cool, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one. I don't remember feeling this with my first pregnancy. I'm glad I'm not an oddball!
