May I introduce myself?!

Hello all!

I would like to introduce myself. My name is Maurica (pronounced Maurice-ah), I am the luckiest single mommy to 12 month old Melanie, who (besides being brilliant!) is the spunkiest girl on all fours! We live in the central coast of California, though I am native to Massachusetts. I am 23 years old and just graduated from Cal Poly with a Bachelor's in Forestry. Currently I am starting my own business and will hopefully be a WAHM within a couple months! Yay! I can't wait! Along those lines, I'm considering hiring an au pair. Any one have experience with that or in-home nannies? Mel-Belle is in a home daycare now (she's the only kid!) and that's OK, but we're always looking for something better!

Her bio-dad is pretty clueless, we just started talking again after 1.5 years of nothing. He said he'll help out, but I'm not holding my breath. I'll keep you posted. We were engaged when we concieved Belle. *big sigh*

Wow, you sound very energetic. What's your secret?! What does forestry entail (summary of four years!). Sounds great. Au pair sounds great, I think I'd prefer a cook myself (I think I'm the only person I know who can burn water!)

Welcome! How great to hear another energetic, together single mom. Single parenting is challenging, but so, frankly, is coparenting when you're in an unhappy/unhealthy relationship...actually, single parenting is easier than parenting in a bad relationship!!

You sound very balanced- lucky daughter! Any issues you're worried about? Sounds like you're right on about dealing w/your daughters dad.
