Older dd picked this out as a board book to read to the baby.

I just read it. Am I the only one who thinks the author was smoking something ?

Omg, DH and I just crack up over this book. We have one with really elaborate illustrations too. It is so hysterical.

That was the first peice I performed publicly - I wish I could remember it.

DS has a book called Grandma's Sugar Bush. I had to give it away, because I laughed so hard I would not even read it to him.

If you think Edward Lear was smoking something, have you ever read "The Adventures of Alice Through the Looking Glass"?

Charles Dodgeson was definitely doing something mind-altering while writing those verses.

I adore The Owl and the Pussycat. Before we had a kid, I used to recite it to the cat.

I remember having that book as a kid, I don't remember thinking that the author was under the influence of something but I do remember it was very, very odd.

There was a film in the late 1960s with Barbra Streisand and George Segal called the "Owl and the Pussy Cat".

I love that poem. My mom swears that I could recite chunks of it when I was two because she read it to me so often.
