I've been doing grape juice and it's super yummy- so, I put the grains in some cranberry juice and it doesnt seem to be doing anything!

I'm really new at this- so, keep that in mind!

It should work. Some juices get more fizzy than others. Is it a fizz issue or does it just stay sugary?

Well- I've only had it in there for a day. The grape juice got fizzy (which I like!) pretty soon- and the cranberry has'nt changed yet.

I guess i just wonder it I did something wrong and screwed up my grains...or am I just impatient?

Did you put all your grains in the grape juice? I don't tend to reuse the grains I use for juice kefir since they don't seem quite as active afterwards. I usually use my extras for juice kefir and then either eat or compost the grains after I'm done. I always have a batch going with just sucanat or rapadura to make sure I have a good culture going. It's possible they may have gotten a bit dormant. Try culturing a batch in just sucanat or rapadura and see if they revive.

Also, has it gotten any colder in your house from the grape juice batch to your cranberry juice batch? And I just need to check -- this is cranberry juice with the sugar added, right? Not just straight cranberry juice?

Well I've found that after a couple times in the juice they work faster. The first couple times with grape juice I was leaving it for 3-4 days but after awhile 1-2 days would be fine. I would leave it longer.
And, I think I'm going to try it in cranberry juice, it's my favorite!! Thanks for the idea.

Yea, as PP said, it would have to be the cranberry juice with added sugar and/or high-sugar fruit juice like white grape, so it would have sugar to munch on... straight pure cranberry juice is really bitter/sour tasting.

Good Luck !
