Dyeing and pre-fold question

I am looking at getting some pre-folds and dyeing them.

So for any mama's out there, approx. how much dye do I need per dozen prefolds (i.e. Dharma trading procion dyes)....and do you see a large difference in pre-fold quality (and any preferences on where to get them)

I don't know - haven't dyed mine yet. But a dyeing friend said they take a LOT of dye and tons of rinsing. Maybe if you email Dharma they'll help?

I just dyed 4 doz on Tuesday. PP is right, they do take a lot of dye, but mostly b/c they are already so many layers of fabric. I'm actually quite pleased with the results. I did use the Dharma fiber reactive dyes, I got 2 oz of each of 6 colors and then lightly mixed those to make even more colors. The red I got did "shift" slightly into a yellow on one edge and fuschia on the other, but it's not anything I can't live with.

oh I like the rainbow ones.

I was planning on doing all one color... do you think 2oz would be enough to do a few in each color (solid)?

I think so. Of my 2oz times 6, I still have most of it left.

But I'm not sure on what method to use to dye a solid color. I'm sure there are instructions on the Dharma website or somewhere. Oh actually it may be possible to do it in your washing machine! That'll be easy.
