Is this pain normal?

So now 37 weeks and 2 days. Today was a very strange day. The baby was moving around like crazy - have never felt her move that much the entire pregnancy. The only difference - it HURT!!! It felt like every time she moved she hit a nerve or something. Not only down in my cervix (which I know is normal at this point), but I also ended up with shooting pains in my back and sides. Not down my leg - which would make me think sciatic. Is this normal? I remember I had back labor with DD and although these pains do also occur during a contraction they just feel strange. Anyone else had this? Or am I just a miserable person right now?

I've started having those kinds of pains now at 39 weeks. I wish I knew why--maybe it means our little ones are almost ready to come out!!

Yup! Once they get engaged in the pelvis you get LOTS of fun new pains.

Sometimes they will put their hands up on their heads and just push/knead right on your cervix. FUN FUN.
