Quick question, can you mix homeopathic remedies? I found 2 that sound right for me and they both do slightly different things. Do you think it is ok to take both? And is it safe for BF?

Homeopathic remedies?

I'm sure others may have other advice, but I have been taking Emergen-C, omega-3 pills (fish), and my prenatals. When things get bad I take chamomilla to calm me down (homeopath). I was also taking Blessed Thistle, but in capsule form. I hear the tincture is better. This DID help me. I am not sure if there are any interactions here....
However, I still found I was having some bad days, just fewer of them. My Dr. suggested I continue with the prenatals and fish oil and I am taking Zoloft.

Hi - I am a classical homeopath and we really do not recommend mixing remedies. Some of the remedies can be contraindicated with one another.
Which remedies are you looking at and do you know how to take them?
Homeopathic remedies can be taken while BF. For more info on homeopathy you can read my homeopathy page at www.martoranawellness.com

Maderella~ Thanks for your reply. I am looking at Sepia and "Nervousness" which contains Cinchona, Ignatia, Kali phos, & Phosphoricum acidum. This will be my first venture into homeopathy so I am not sure how to take it. I am realizing there is a lot to know and maybe I shouldn't be self-treating. Thanks for your help.
Jennybean~ Thank you too for your input. I will try some of your suggestions. I hope I can avoid an Rx, just not yet.

No worries, not offended! I too wanted to avoid Rx. When I got to 6 months and I was still 'trying to get over the baby blues hump', me and my husband made a hard decision to try the Rx. It was a long road to get there, and it was hard to find a provider that would support us (that is a whole other story, I saw two people before I found the right person to see).
All the best, you will be fine

I did manage to avoid meds - my homeopathic was Sepia (wanted to walk away, no love for my kiddos, rage attacks, etc) - The "down" days decreased in both severity and frequency over time, I just had to remember to take the sepia when I came into a down time, and it helped quickly.
I also focused in on nutrition, most helpful were liver and fish, each once/week. cod liver oil is also good, but it's only one of many potental nutrients that can become depleted through pregnancy and nursing and cause depression - Amanda (Gale Force) has a lot of info on that stuff - she can usually be found in the Traditional Foods forum here, and here's her website: http://www.rebuild-from-depression.com/
