Baby's PKU tests results - slightly elevated - Page 2

Hugs Kristen

What hard and scary news. I've been reading on this a bit since you posted. It sounds like early intervention can make a big difference, and also that there's a wide variety of opinions on how much nursing is possible - so I wouldn't assume it's not an option. Good luck as you figure all this out. You are in all our thoughts!

Hugs to you Kristen, and your little one. As hard as this news must be, I am glad they caught it right away. Thinking of you.

So sorry to hear about this PKU problem with your baby! I don't know squat about it, but just wanted to give you a big hug and to let you know there is an answer to EVERY problem! As you go down this road, remember to find peace and treat your baby as if there was no problem at all (while searching for the best solutions), feel the joy he brings to you and reflect it back to him. Smile at him a lot, he needs all your positive vibes.
The reason I'm saying this is because my dd was diagnosed with severe eczema and I felt there was just nothing on this planet that I could feed her and I felt really horrible for many, many weeks and months. I realized that when I saw her in pain all the time I constantly made sad faces and the moment I decided to just change my face when I looked at her, she felt better and it helped her deal with it as well.

Kristen,

and more

Be gentle with yourself, too.

Kristen, I just saw this!

I don't know much about PKU but I am off to find out now.

ETA: I read more . . .I am so glad it was caught right away-- thank goodness for newborn screenings.

Are you seeing Dr. Morse? Since he is associated with Children's you know you'll get excellent care.
